I like the idea of being a connoisseur of fine time pieces, but when someone recently gave me a knock-off of a patek philipe, i was embarrassed to not know anything about the brand. so here's the scoop: it's a company based in geneva, been around since the mid-1800s. Generally considered to make the best watches in the world. In their 150 year existance, they've produced less watches (about 600,000) than Rolex produces in a single year. This version would be worth about $35,000 if it were real. God bless those crafty counterfitters, helping spread watch education around the globe.
