This is a practical, well-organized manual for how to be a good landlord and avoid some of the pitfalls of owning rental property. Maybe if more landlords read this book, more tenants would feel like they and the owner are not intrinsic adversaries. Even though we get along quite well, and have for the last 22 years, I lent my copy to my landlord--for the other tenants' sakes!
Our old house here in Piscataway, NJ was built as a two bedroom Cape Cod by Eno Osterblum, Swedish ship carpenter, some time in the Forties, we found newspapers from WWII in the ceiling used as insulation. Right after we moved in we tore out a lot of walls, opened it up. Our old landlord in Edison, Tony Kalogridis, helped us knock out the wall to what was a bedroom, and convert it to a TV room. Put down carpet after sanding the floor.Frida hoping that the bedroom carpet will be replaced soon
We had a small flooding of bedroom carpet. After one week and mold growing, we finally were able to get the carpet out and the room cleaned. We're still waiting three weeks later for replacement flooring though- landlord, owner, and HOA still trying to get each other to do it.
