2013: Should there be autism-specific standards?

This is an invited talk I gave in Glasgow on November 27, 2013, for one of several related seminars ("Action on Autism Research Series").

Videos of all presentations in this seminar, including mine, were originally posted here. You can now find my presentation here.

Since 2008 I've sporadically given talks on the problem of low standards in autism intervention research. Over the years information has accumulated such that I find the material almost overwhelming to present, a problem obvious in my Glasgow talk (representative quote: "You can say anything is evidence-based if you set the standards of evidence low enough"). This issue deserves a much better presenter.

It also deserves a paper or papers of some kind, though I keep hoping others better situated will write one (or several). In the meantime, this talk seems to qualify as unfinished work.
