Australian Blak History Month has been celebrated in July each year since 2008. Blak History Month seeks to promote, celebrate and remember the history of Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

How was Blak History Month started?
Sometimes it just takes one person to start something new. And that is certainly the case here. In 2008, Ms Sam Cook from Kiss My Blak Arts Arts Consultancy had an idea to start an Australian Blak History Month. She created a poster and started sharing it. But she wasn't only sharing the poster, she was sharing the idea.

We at Blacklines picked up the idea and started developing some resources to support Australian Blak History Month. Three years on, we're still supporting a great idea with this website and more classroom ideas.

We'd love to hear from you about your classroom ideas.

Have a great July, Leesa
