Studio Policies

NOTE about PROJECT PLANNING & MIXING:

You must allow us time to make your songs sound good. Do not think that you can book 2 hours and record 4-5 songs and expect us to do anything REMOTELY similar to "Radio Mixes" with the leftover time.

Do you think it is that easy? Why would artists like Snoop Dog or T-Pain or Kanye need expensive studios and big budgets? Wouldn't they rather take that extra money and go to the Bahamas or buy more bling or a sick ride? OF COURSE THEY WOULD.

But NO. They must spend that money on TIME for studios to make their chart-busting hits. Those professionals do it DAY IN AND OUT, ALL DAY, and they STILL need time to do it.

DO NOT blame us if you aren't getting the results you expect in the alotted time. Just like you need time to lay down tracks - we need time to make your song shine. If you think otherwise - YOU ARE DELUDING YOURSELF. Do NOT blame your mediocre mix on this or ANY studio, if you aren't willing to spend the time and the money. You get what you pay for.

THIS: http://www.digido.com/ratesheet1.html is a RATE SHEET for a commercial studio. Read it VERY carefully. ESPECIALLY THE "Mixing Estimate" paragraph. This is a COMMERCIAL STUDIO, that mixes the radio-ready mixes.

REMEMBER THIS when you're planning your next session. Do us BOTH a favor. OK?

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the studio policies. A clear understanding of the policies will reduce confusion later on.

Booking

We require a 50% deposit on all time booked. If your deposit is not received within 7 days of booking your session, your time will be forfeited to another client.

Payment

The balance of your payment must be settled before receiving any final masters. You can make payment by check, money order or PayPal. Checks can be made payable to “Allison Ruhnke”.  See our RATES page for more details on deposits.

Rough Mixes

We will provide you with up to 2 CD-Rs rough mix of the completed project at the end of your last tracking session.  Any CD's over and above will be provided at $5/each.

Stems

Your music is yours and can be given to you if you bring a hard drive. We can provide you with the raw individual track stems at our standard flat rate for time spent printing the files.  Stem rendering does take time and is therefore considered extra service and is not included in any of our package deals.

Starting Time

When you schedule a session, it is expected you will arrive at the agreed upon starting time. It should be understood that we will bill you from the beginning of your scheduled time regardless of what time you arrive.

Equipment Rental

We have an extensive instrument and amp collection, certain pieces of which are available to use at our discretion, some equipment may require a rental fee. Any equipment damaged or broken by clients will be repaired or replaced at cost and billed accordingly.

Extraneous People

We try to maintain a relaxed atmosphere at the studio so as not to disrupt efficiency or work flow. Therefore, we prefer that persons not in the band or relevant to the recording process not be present. We understand that sometimes artists enjoy having their friends hang out, but we’ve found that it creates more of a distraction for the engineer and artist trying to work and ultimately slows down the process, costing you money. If there are songs that include gang vocals or something similar, you’re welcome to bring a group of people in to help out, but we prefer to do this at the end of the tracking sessions and only to track those parts. Thanks for understanding.

Restricted Recordings

As a professional recording studio we respect the intellectual property rights of all artists. We reserve the right to cancel your session if we believe you are infringing on the copyrighted material of others. Additionally, we reserve the right to refuse service to any artist with racist or otherwise inappropriate material.

Drugs, Alcohol and Smoking

Illegal drugs are strictly prohibited and we reserve the right to refuse service or cancel a session if a client appears to be under the influence. Alcohol is permitted as long as those consuming it are over 21 years of age. Smoking is prohibited in the studio.  If you choose to smoke outdoors, please use the receptacle provided for this purpose.
