Tucker's Model of Professional Decision Making

Tucker's Model of Professional Decision Making (Tucker's MPDM) was developed through an embedded case study.  This case study examined teachers’ perspectives on their decision processes to use a Twitter personal learning network (PLN).  The findings resulted in the development of a preliminary explanatory model.  The five major findings revealed external stimulus and support is vital to address pre-existing attitudes, to target the acquisition of technical and implementation knowledge, and to encourage continued exposure and interaction.  The final two findings focus on the interaction with a social learning community and informal learning.  The personal experimentation and exploration of a Twitter PLN allows teachers to build their professional network and quickly access high quality information.
