No call to 911 - the coup de grace
The death blow. No call to 911. She put her full faith in her eldest daughter. This daughter who had durable power of attorney for her health care and estate, as the successor executrix. Poor Mary ended up pushed aside by that daughter, and her son-in-law, prematurely, into a locked dementia ward of an assisted living facility here in Niantic, CT called "Crescent Point". They did this mostly, to gain an early strategic control of her fortune. A document later revealed that Mary had signed away her family trust assets with a instrument quickly devised by her lawyer, and her daughter's influence. This resulted in my mother's accelerated demise, in soiled, repeatedly worn, unkempt clothing, and the rather unpleasant persistent smell of urine. Her formerly prim and proper hair style had slowly faded in color to a brittle faded orange, with long white roots of neglect, and a hairstyle of disarray. Her prized jewelry had been mysteriously stripped off from her cold, spotted, withered, translucent hands. Safekeeping for Mary's treasure was the intention here, no doubt. She had always been such a well groomed conservative woman of her era and circumstances. Mary would have been humiliated, if she had been aware mentally, of her final physical conditions. She was strategically over sedated, confused, and lost in a stupor to the end of her life, unaware of the familial vultures circling above her fading carcass. She was found unconscious with a gash on her head one summer night by a staff member on the bathroom floor of her room, while she was having a massive stroke, and yet no one in authority called 911. Too little assistance from this supposed assisted living. "Crescent Point" called the daughter who was then away on a vacation buying trip for her "Haneberg's Antiques", to ask her what to do about our mother's health emergency. This "sister in charge" then called me, ...(the brother she calls a loser, and mental case) ...out of the blue, during the night, to go to my mother's unexpected rescue. I had a very difficult, and frantic wasted hour getting anyone to let me into the dimly lit, and locked up, so-called assisted living facility. No staff member was there to meet me, and let me in when I arrived. After a long period of banging on the door, and trying to get the emergency house phone to respond, I finally gained access to the facility. I finally took my mother into my arms, loaded her into my little beat up 95 Chevy Cavalier with faulty brakes, and drove her to the hospital emergency room. I later asked myself why the staff had not called 911 to begin with in this situation? This was a nightmare scenario. Ironic, I think. The same people that violated me years ago, also violated her in the end. Months later back at this Crescent Point, she was found dead slumped in her wheelchair around 4pm, after 18 months of decline. The death blow...the coup de grace. My mother used to say to me that she was tired of eating lobster out at fine restaurants. No more lobster for Mary. The daughters wear Mary's expensive prized jewelry now that she is gone and buried, and live with her antique furniture and oriental rugs, in their own homes now. Big bright shiny smiles and polite conversation, can often hide the scoundrel within. The name - calling sisters should take a look at themselves in their own hand mirrors.
