If taking the bus from Allentown, please arrive at Allentown HS no later than 7:30. (Percussion and Sousas, if you could get here around 7:15 to help load the truck, that would be much appreciated! Everyone is invited to help!)

If meeting us in Millstone, I must receive an email stating that!

A couple of important reminders for the parade:

  1. You must wear your WHITE “When one door closes” shirt under your uniform.
  2. Please arrive in your uniform (washed and fitting!)
  3. Hydrate the night before
  4. If you are meeting us in Millstone, please arrive at Scooter’s Corner at 8:30. (We are warming up on the grass across the street from the shop.  I won’t know the exact location until I arrive with the Allentown buses.)

  6. No one can drive between Millstone and Allentown - everyone takes the bus. There is no return bus to Millstone. Everyone is picked up from Allentown.

Kick off Meeting

Our annual kick-off meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 30th at 7pm. Start talking it up! I just visited the middle schools so they know about the date but spread the word, especially to 8th graders.

Summer Marching Band

As we start looking to next year, I encourage you to check the calendar on the band website for schedule information.

In general, Full Marching Band rehearsals (including woodwinds/brass) will take place every Wednesday night, 6-9pm. This will start in the end of June and continue throughout the summer.

Band Camp is August 21-24
Rehearsal: Monday, August 27 and Wednesday, Aug. 29. Please do not schedule vacations either week. The Monday and Wednesday rehearsals are mandatory after band camp.

Jazz Fest! 9 Bands headed to AHS.

posted Jan 19, 2018, 10:48 AM by Ross Hecht

Jazz Fest
We need lots of help for Jazz Festival on March 9.
At this event we host other Jazz Bands from different Schools who perform for each other and compete for various awards.  They all come hungry and we feed them (hence:good fundraiser).   We would like to see as many parents and students as possible sign up to help.  The more we have, the shorter the work shifts will be.

We need parents to please donate some food that we can sell, like baked Ziti, Mac & Cheese, mozz sticks, sausage & peppers, hot pretzels, candy, baked goods, etc.  We also need help  to work the food concession, ticket sales, set-up and clean-up and students for meet and greet to direct bands to practice rooms and help.  The event will most likely run from around 5:00-10:00 pm, so we will need help starting around 3:30/4:00.  All replies should be sent to lfturbo@msn.com

Ad Campaign Must have all ads in by March 1st.  Great way to earn money for the trip next year!!.

If a place you visit will not give you an ad, then see if they will donate something that we can put in a gift basket for On The Town April  21.  Since we do a gift auction for On The Town Jazz Concert in April, all students in the Jazz Band are required to donate a basket that is worth at least $25.  Start looking for stuff now. We will of course also take donations and hope to get donations from all band students.

Soup Dinner coming up!

posted Dec 2, 2017, 6:52 AM by Ross Hecht

To the AHS Band Community,

On Thursday, Dec. 7th, we will be hosting our next big fundraising event: The Sip Soup Dinner and Take Out!
This fundraiser takes place before the Winter Symphonic Band Concert.   The Sip Soup Fundraiser has been a successful community event for several years and it is one of our most profitable events.

There are two parts to this fundraiser:
*Sit-Down Soup Dinner - prior to the symphonic band performance, families and friends can enjoy a buffet of soups and desserts in the AHS Cafeteria. These soups are all donated and homemade by our band parents...we would love for you to prepare and share your favorite soup recipe!

*Take-out Soup Sale - on the afternoon prior to the Symphonic Band performance we invite members of the community to purchase take out containers of soup which are donated by local restaurants.  Many of the  teachers also look forward to this sale and are sure to purchase their favorite soups before they leave for the day!

Keep an eye out soon for flyers with more details of this event....
However, to make this year's Sip Soup Dinner & Take Out a success WE NEED YOUR HELP! Follow the link at the bottom of this email and sign up to donate soup or dessert, request soup donation from a local restaurant, and/or volunteer some of your time at the event.

If you have any questions about helping with the SIP SOUP EVENT please email:
Kathleen Urban   urban7@optonline.net    (for Take-Out Event)
Sue Bernieri         suujoo@aol.com          (for Sit Down Dinner)

Thank you for your continued support of our kids and the AHS Band Program!!
