MB: August 3, 2017 Update

A Few Reminders:

1. All forms are due. You can find them below or by clicking here. Please bring them to the next rehearsal

2. Mind Band Camp Rehearsal Schedule
    • Thursday, 8/17, 6-8pm: New Members/Leaders
    • Friday, 8/18, 5-9pm: All Members
3. Band Parent Meeting on Wednesday, 8/16 at 7:30pm.
At 8:30pm, all parents and members will join for a mandatory full band meeting to discuss the handbook, the season, and band camp. 

4. All warms ups should be practiced/memorized for next rehearsal

5. Reminder of the schedule change: Harvest Festival is now October 15


...and hey! great news! - we will now communicate through "band@ufrsd.net" - easy to remember - easy to hear - easy to communicate! Wow! Thanks to the AHS tech department for setting that up! 




Marching Band Permission Slips, Medical Forms, and Handbooks


All members of the Marching Band are required to bring the following signed forms to the first day of Band Camp as required by the School District:
  1. Field Trip Permission Slips
  2. Medical Info and Release Form
  3. Last Page of Marching Band Handbook
  4. Media Release Form
  5. Consent to Random Drug Test (New Members only)
  6. Payment Form

Memorial Day Schedule - Monday, May 29

Schedule

7:20 - Report to AHS IN FULL UNIFORM

7:45 - Depart AHS for Scooters Corner, Millstone

8:15 - Arrive in Millstone

9:00 - Roads Close in Millstone

9:30- Parade steps off

10:15 - EVERYBODY onto busses to Allentown (remain in uniform)

10:45 - off the bus in Allentown and begin Marching in Parade (quick turn around)

11:30 - Service outside of Newell Elementary Begins

12:30 - Rough dismissal time from AHS (no return bus to Millstone)

If taking the bus from Allentown, please arrive at Allentown HS no later than 7:20. (Percussion and Sousaline, if you could get here around 7:00 to help load the truck, that would be much appreciated! Everyone is invited to help!)

ON THE TOWN

Jazz On the Town
A HUGE fundraiser for the marching band and jazz band program

Tickets: Adults $20 per person and includes a full catered dinner. We usually sell about 180 seats and you must buy ahead of time. Order form attached. 

Silent Auction: As part of the night, we hold a silent auction. Basket values must be at least $25 in value. 

Help Needed: We also need some help at 2pm on Friday before On The Town to help set up. Please sign up here


Some basket ideas from the past include "Movie Night" - (Contents: 2 movie tickets, popcorn, and candy) or "Coffee Lover" (Contents: Starbucks gift card, a pound of coffee, and 2 coffee mugs). Please consider donating a basket by clicking here.

WOW! Tomorrow is the day!

Please read carefully!

Check in procedure:

6:50-7:15am - Luggage Check-in - AT MAIN OFFICE ATRIUM


  1. Meet Mr. Hecht in the Main Office Atrium with the following:
    1. Suitcase
    2. Carryon Bag
    3. STUDENT ID (If under 18)
    4. License if 18
    5. MARCHING BAND MUSIC
  2. In exchange for those items, I will give you a luggage tag and you will leave your belongings in the atrium to be checked.

Some reminders:
  1. No liquids in your carry-on
  2. Bring you instrument and music!
  3. Pack your uniform, tuxedo, or black attire if playing on Great Locomotive or Quiet Courage
  4. The forecast has some rain in it - be prepared with a light jacket or poncho!!
  5. Pack your SHOW SHIRT and TEXAS SHIRT
  6. You will be called out of class around 1:15ish - I will let you know via REMIND on where to go

11:30am - Report to Nottingham 
12:00pm - Warm Up
12:40pm - Performance at Nottingham HS Jazz Festival
2:20pm - Awards
2:40pm - Pick Up at Nottingham HS

A reminder, you are responsible for your own transportation to Nottingham HS. 

Festival Information:
Starts at 12pm 

Food/Concessions:

Snacks/Drinks will be available for purchase directly outside of the auditorium.  T shirts will be on sale and Jazz Music baskets will be silent auctioned off.

Tickets:

Are $7 for adults, $5 for students. All proceeds help support our Marching Unit here at Nottingham.

Spring Rehearsals are underway for the trip to San Antonio! 

Most members should have three pieces of music to rehearse right now

  2. With Quiet Courage
  3. Mag7
Some reminders:
  1. Members of the marching band will be wearing all black for the concert band performance. (Symphonic Band men will wear tuxes).
  2. Over 18? I need a copy of your license
  3. Permission Slips are going out today - they are due, Next Tuesday, March 14

Spring Update

San Antonio Trip Rehearsals Start February 28th!
  • Regular Tuesday/Thursday Rehearsals in the evening (6-8pm) until the trip.
  • The Marching Band will be performing in a Six Flags Texas Parade and in the Concert Band Festival

Attached is a PDF calendar that is easy to read!

Some important things to note:

  • Their will be a mandatory student/parent meeting with Mr. Crosby and high school administration for all students going on the trip. Please note this is district policy and is required for students and parents to attend an overnight trip. If you cannot attend, please contact Mr. Hecht ASAP.
  • The Marching “Concert Band” will perform at the Spring Band Concert  in May. There will be two rehearsals to refresh the music
  • Starting at the end of April, Percussion will start pre-season rehearsals - eighth graders will be invited to attend
  • Memorial Day Parade rehearsals will begin in the middle of May
