Barn Manager, Lead Instructor:
Melissa Parry

Melissa is the Barn Manager at the Atkinson Riding Academy and the Lead Instructor in the Lessons for Littles program.

Melissa developed her love for horses at an early age riding at Ironstone Farm. Throughout her younger years she rode and volunteered with their therapeutic riding program as a leader and sidewalker.

In her teenage years, Melissa rode at various barns in MA and NH riding many ‘problem’ or unfinished horses independently and under instruction. At 14, she got her first horse Jack; a 7 year old chestnut gelding fresh off the track. She did all of his training herself and competed in local fun shows doing hunter classes, jumping classes, barrel racing, and a few 2 and 3 phase events.

Through her teenage years into her early 20’s she taught lessons and gave guided trail rides in NH (For A Reason Farm) as well as assisted in training and correction of many horses.

During her mid 20’s she stepped back from the horse world and worked in pharmaceutical research where she made her way up through the ranks to management.

Since her move to Danville NH in 2011 Melissa has been back in the horse world teaching lessons locally. She joined the ARA team during the summer of 2014 and serves the integral role of barn manager as well as instructor / trainer. She currently owns a percheron cross named Levi who resides at ARA as a lesson horse and a morgan arab cross named Gibson who lives at her house.
