2004 Saturn Vue Redline AWD

One Owner, Clean Carfax, Fully Serviced with Timing Belt & Water Pump, Super CLEAN!

Hosting provided by FotoTime

This is a 2004 Saturn Vue Redline AWD finished in Sebring Silver Metallic with the gray and black interior. It’s had over $6,500 worth of repairs and maintenance including a new timing belt and water pump and a set of four premium tires, details of which are further down in the description. And it’s best to view the listing on a desktop or laptop computer, a smartphone won’t give you the same details. The V6 Saturn Vue has a powertrain made by Honda that is also used in the Honda Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline. It consists of an all aluminum 3.5L SOHC 24 valve VTEC V6 engine code named J35A3 that puts out 250 horsepower and has received numerous rave reviews by engineers and the automotive press for it’s high power output, excellent economy and inherent smoothness. It features an aluminum block and cylinder heads for light weight and excellent heat dissipation, VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) for maximum power output at all engine speeds, multiport fuel injection for excellent gas mileage, distributorless coil on plug (COP) ignition for reliability in all environmental conditions and drive by wire electronic throttle for precise control of drivability parameters. The result is that this Vue engine has all the legendary quality and reliability of a Honda but costs about $2,000 less than a similarly equipped Honda Pilot. These engines easily go over 300,000 miles in normal service and it’s not uncommon to see them with over 400,000 miles come up for sale occasionally.

The engine is mated to a Honda H5 5-speed automatic transmission that is also used in those Honda models. This transmission has a low first gear that provides brisk acceleration, while the high top gear allows for effortless highway cruising and excellent gas mileage. In fact, at 60 mph the engine is turning at only 1,600 rpm, and at 75, just 1,900 rpm. You can average mid to upper 20’s mpg, and when driven with restraint, nearly 30 mpg on the highway. That’s something most owners of other mid-sized SUV’s only dream about. And it runs great on just regular gas! The impressive fuel economy is in big part due to the low curb weight of just 3,600 pounds afforded by the Vue’s unibody construction. In comparison, a similarly equipped Ford Explorer with body-on-frame construction weighs 4,600 pounds. This Vue has the Versatrak® full time all-wheel drive system (AWD). Designed in collaboration with Steyr-Daimler-Puch Fahrzeugtechnik, an Austrian driveline supplier, it is an on-demand system that uses front wheel drive for normal driving and automatically adds rear-wheel drive as necessary on slippery road surfaces, without perceptible influence on vehicle handling or driving comfort. If one or both front wheels lose grip, the system comes into action progressively, with no buttons to push or levers to throw. The Versatrak® system is always poised to help the driver make use of the traction available by not only transferring torque from front to rear, but also from side to side between the rear wheels. When front-wheel slippage occurs Versatrak® can direct as much as 44 percent of the engine's power to each rear wheel either individually or simultaneously as needed. The advantages include lower added vehicle weight so gas mileage is nearly the same as FWD models, a low profile installation so the vehicle body doesn’t have to be raised like on many 4x4’s and increased cargo space allowing a spare tire to be stored under the load floor instead of having to hang a big wheel off the end of the vehicle. And if you own any power sports like ATV’s, snowmobiles, small boats or trailers, the Saturn Vue is rated to tow up to 3,500 pounds.

Rounding out the Vue powertrain is a unit body frame design that is lighter yet more rigid than the body-on-frame construction of many other SUVs. The chassis is made to smooth out your daily commute while still having fun on twisting roads. Start off with a McPherson strut independent front suspension with anti-sway bar, multi-link rear suspension with anti-sway bar and lightweight aluminum wheels. Add rack and pinion Electric Power Steering (EPS) for precise road feel (and no potential maintenance issues like with a conventional hydraulic power steering system such as leaks or pump problems), and large diameter brakes with anti-lock control, and you have an SUV that is quicker, faster and handles better than many others in it’s class.

The biggest distinction Saturn vehicles have over their competitors is it’s composite body panels. The doors, fenders, quarter panels, etc. are made of materials that will never rust and are flexible enough to ward off minor impacts that would result in ugly dents or dings on metal body vehicles. Take a close look at a 15 or 20 year old Saturn and chances are it will still look as clean as a late model car.

While it might be presumptuous to call the Vue Redline a collector vehicle, it’s rarity, attractive styling and orphan status, may indicate a trend in that direction. At the start of this listing, there are no other Redlines currently listed on Ebay now or in the last 3 months, and there are only four other Redlines listed for sale in the entire USA on other venues, only two of which are AWD. The Redline edition was a low production version designed to turn an already pleasant mid-size SUV into one that drives and handles better than the others while having sports car styling that sets it apart from soccer mom vehicles. Its exterior style is very unique, combining sleek form with aerodynamic function. From its stylish lines and sharp angles, it incorporates numerous design elements to create a look that is like no other SUV on the road. The suspension has been lowered over an inch from the standard models and this gives it just the right attitude. From up front, it has a contoured bumper with integrated spoiler incorporating fog lights and air intake scoops along with a black mesh grill as well as clear lens headlights with jewel effect reflectors. Going back, there is a wide hood transitioning to a steeply raked windshield, and along the sides, large fender flares are overflowing with steamroller size tires on beautiful 7 spoke open design alloy wheels complementing the aerodynamic side skirts. Body color mirrors and door handles add a monochromatic look. On the roof, a glass sunroof lets the sunshine in as the Vue’s lines meld rearwards into a nearly vertical back window. The rear bumper completes the ground effects look and frames the chrome exhaust tip. The Vue Redline looks aggressive from any angle without being flashy. But if you like the exterior design, you will really like the interior.

Open the door, step inside and sit down into a firm and supportive sport bucket seat. Move the 6-way power adjustment up or down or forward and backward with the side switch, then rotate the knob at the front for more or less lumbar support, and then adjust the tilt steering wheel for the perfect driving position. Next, look ahead at the instrument cluster with the large easy to read gauges with faces in classic white trimmed with chrome rings. Grab the thick leather wrapped steering wheel and see the cruise control switches are just a fingertip away. Notice the soft supple feel of the soft grain upholstery, take a deep breath and inhale the scent of aromatic leather surrounding you. Like the inside of a classic English pub, the rich musky interior scent of the leather is more like a classic British Jaguar than a Saturn. Now glance above you at the auto-dimming rearview mirror which displays the outside temperature and compass heading and the large glass roof that lets the sun in on cold days when closed and the breeze in on warmer days when open. Lastly, gaze over at the dashboard and center stack or down at the center console. Not only is the styling attractive, but all the textures have a rich feel and look and all the switchgear have a precise soft touch action. From the stitching of the leather wrapped steering wheel, the graining pattern on the dash and door panels, or the layout of the knobs and switches on the dash, everything looks and feels like it came from a more expensive vehicle. The Vue Redline is a low production SUV that you don’t see every day. If you’re tired of the bland cookie-cutter shape of all the common Chevy, Ford or Dodge SUV’s and minivans on the road today, this Saturn will appeal to you.

This vehicle is in excellent condition inside and out and looks super sharp. While it has above average mileage, it could pass for one with just 60,000 miles. The Sebring Silver Metallic paint just about glows in the sunlight and the Vue looks absolutely fantastic in this color. You’re sure to get many questions and complements about it at the mall or supermarket parking lot from total strangers. If you don’t want attention, or if you are the least bit shy, don’t buy this Vue, I warn you. It has a beautiful dent-free body with excellent paint and even after walking around it twice, I couldn’t find a significant scratch or blemish other than a one inch gouge in the front bumper. It has been cleaned with Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay System, polished with Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze cleaner polish, topped off with Meguiar’s Ultimate Synthetic Wax and then sealed with Meguiar’s Ultimate Fast Finish for a long lasting brilliant high gloss shine. Even the wheels have been cleaned and waxed! How obsessed is that? Ditto for the chrome exhaust tip. All the glass, headlights, moldings, trim and emblems are excellent, I checked the car out top to bottom and found no evidence that is was ever wrecked.

The interior is in great condition as well. It has very nice upholstery, carpet, dashboard, door panels and headliner with no significant signs of wear, just a few nicks in the headliner and some dirt in the rear carpet. The car doesn‘t appear to have been smoked in. In fact, it’s not even equipped with a lighter. The cargo area looks like it was hardly ever used and the engine compartment has been fully detailed and is clean enough to eat off of.

Mechanically it runs and drives great. The engine starts instantly whether hot or cold and runs strong and feels smooth both at idle, while accelerating and throughout the cruising range. The transmission shifts smoothly. The steering wheel is on dead center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes are firm with no pedal pulsation or pulling to one side when stopping and the suspension is tight. The A/C blows ice cold. It has a matching set of four like new Toyo Versado Noir tires. These are all-season M+S rated luxury touring tires that combine a high performance tread design with exceptional all-season wet/dry traction for excellent handling and a quiet ride. They have the best “A” rating for traction and temperature and an industry leading 620 treadwear rating. In fact, Toyo has a 75,000 mile treadwear warranty on these tires. They have been balanced with coated balance weights mounted on the inside of the wheel for a super clean look. These weights won’t corrode and turn ugly like cheap uncoated weights. It has a Firestone spare tire that doesn’t look like it has ever been used.

The vehicle has been fully checked out and serviced with over $6,500 worth of new or recent parts, tires, maintenance and repairs with original GM, AC Delco or other name brand parts so that only your enjoyment rather than your immediate attention will be required on delivery. Some of the items checked or serviced include:

The Saturn Vue is a low maintenance vehicle. Spark plugs have a 100,000 mile service interval, same for the transmission fluid change, timing belt change, valve adjustment and 150,000 miles for a coolant service. Other than routine oil and filter changes, with all the above mentioned servicing the car has recently received, you should be good to go for another 100,000 miles before requiring major maintenance. Internally, the engine is super clean with no sign of sludge and looks cleaner than a 60,000 mile engine. And if you have never owned a Redline from new and never got to experience the tight suspension and precise handling these SUVs originally had, this example comes pretty close. With most of the front end rebuilt with premium replacement parts including struts, strut mounts, wheel bearings, control arms, ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar bushings, etc., you will feel what it was like to drive when it was new.

Overall this is a super sharp SUV that looks absolutely fantastic in this Sebring Silver color. The cost new of this Vue Redline was nearly $30,000 in 2004 CLICK HERE to see the price new, but because it was a hot model, most dealers were adding additional market adjustment markups (read rip off), so with tax, title and tags, the out the door price was nearly $35K. It’s been a one owner southern vehicle from Maryland its whole life which probably explains why it’s so clean. Plus it has a clean and clear Carfax. CLICK HERE to see the Carfax. The recall mentioned has been completed.

The car comes with all the books:

Two flip key remote combos plus three regular keys:

And a front license plate bracket if your state requires one (holes already in bumper):

If you are serious about buying a Saturn Vue in general, and a Redline model specifically, this is about as low as they go in this nice condition and fully serviced. Remember, you can get a great deal online with prices sometimes way below retail, but nobody is going to “steal” a vehicle and no seller is going to give one away either. Also when comparing prices, remember the things that you won’t have to spend money on soon after getting it home. With this Vue you won’t have to spend $1,000 or more on paint or bodywork to fix faded paint or a broken panel, you wont have to spend $900 for a timing belt and water pump service, you won’t have to spend $800 for a new set of tires, you won’t have to spend $600 on new front wheel bearings, your won’t have to spend $600 on struts, you won’t have to spend $500 on control arms, ball joints and bushings, you won’t have to spend $400 on a complete front brake service, you won’t have to spend $400 on a complete rear brake service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a coolant and brake flush, you won’t have to spend $300 on a transmission, transfer case and rear axle fluid change, you won’t have to spend $300 on a valve adjustment, you won’t have to spend $300 on a tune-up and filters service, and you won’t have to spend $300 on any upcoming scheduled maintenance. With many of the other listings on Ebay, Craigslist or on dealers lots, you’re lucky if they even check the oil before delivery. Also, when comparing this Vue to the others listed, keep in mind that this vehicle was never wrecked, is a one owner with a clean Carfax, runs excellent, is fully serviced, hasn’t been smoked in and is clean inside and out.

If you are looking for an all original Redline in beautiful condition at a good price, then this one is hard to beat. This is my forth Vue Redline. I sold a black 2007 Redline FWD on Ebay in January 2017 with 148,000 miles for $7,500 with Buy It Now and delivered to Florida. CLICK HERE to see that listing. I sold a 2006 Redline FWD in June 2017 with 221,000 miles for $5,000 locally before the Ebay auction ended. CLICK HERE to see that Vue. And I sold a 2006 Redline AWD on Ebay in October 2017 with 198,000 miles for $4,800 and delivered to Texas. CLICK HERE to see that Vue. The Vue in this listing is virtually identical to that one but has much more new parts and service so the price is a better deal overall. Also remember that I don’t charge dealer processing fees or document fees that many other listings have for $200 or more and bury in their fine print.
