Frankfurt Train Station
Frankfurt Train Station
We traveled to Berlin by Train, passing many little cozy towns, as well as some castles and ruins along the way. The Frankfurt train station is over 120 years old (having opened in 1888), and is the third busiest in the world (outside of Japan). It is central to the rails -- they all come into Frankfurt and leave from Frankfurt, but never *through* Frankfurt. Where you see the blue neon sign was the original end of the station. You can see how it now goes beyond -- the trains have gotten much longer over time. I wish I'd gotten photos from the outside of the building -- the inside looks relatively modern, but the outside still has the feel of a 100-year-old building. However, it was a cold 7am, so I wasn't going back outside.
