Mentor Families Needed

It’s that time of year again!   Please consider volunteering to be a mentor family this year  This year our band will be welcoming a lot of new students as part of our band family. To help make their transition a smooth one, I would love to have your support as a mentor band family. Acting as a mentor family is very simple and takes just a little time. We will match you up with new student (one that plays the same instrument as your child if at all possible) and their family. You then reach out to them via email or phone call. The rest is up to - you can meet for coffee, frozen yogurt, dinner … or in whatever way is comfortable to you. The most important thing is having an open line of communication so they can come to you with questions.
This is more critical this year than ever as the financial obligations are a little higher with the Outback Bowl.  As a mentor, you can help ease their concerns and explain the many ways they can help put money in their band accounts.

It was so reassuring to have an experienced mentor band family to turn to when we first arrived at Athens Drive five summers ago. Those first few months as part of the Athens band family can be a little overwhelming and a time when you need a lot of questions answered or maybe just a bit of reassurance that everything will work out just fine and that the crazy schedule really is manageable (and worth every minute!).

Please email me at mentor@athensdriveband.com if you are interested in serving as a mentor family this year. My goal is to match up families as soon as possible so you have time to make a connection well ahead of pre-camp or band camp.
If you know an incoming family you’d like to be matched up with, please let me know in your email.

Thanks you so much!
