In August, the ADHS Band Booster Board introduced a new fundraising venue referred to by the acronym PARCC. Adult band volunteers who have completed Centerplate's TIPS training will have the opportunity to sign up to work events held at the Performing Arts Center, the Raleigh Convention Center, and occasionally Red Hat Amphitheater. For most events at these venues, workers must be adults. There may occasionally be events at which students will be eligible to work. Shifts worked at this venue will not count toward your service credit commitment. A detailed description of this fundraising venue will be available on our website soon.
There are many attractive features of this fundraiser:
1. Workers will earn a band account credit of $8 for each hour worked.
2. These venues run year round, providing additional opportunities to earn band account credits during the winter and early spring months.
3. The band is not committed to providing a set number of workers for events, thus avoiding conflicts with band events and other band fundraisers.
4. Free parking is provided in the parking deck located beside the Convention Center.
Since many of the events at these venues involve alcohol service, adults wishing to work are required to attend a Centerplate alcohol and venue training session. Centerplate is offering a training session at the Raleigh Convention Center on Monday, September 19th at 7:00 p.m. If you are interested in working at this venue this fall, please note that this will be the last training session Centerplate will offer until after the holidays.
In order to assure that there are enough training materials for everyone in attendance, Centerplate is asking for advance sign up. If you are interested in attending this training session, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please make sure to RSVP to me no later than Thursday, September 15th if you wish to attend this training.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
