posted by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated ]

Hello Band Families!

Our car wash certificate fundraiser runs continuously year round.  Now that the snow and ice have retreated, you may be ready to get all that dirty snow and salt off your vehicle.
Here's the down and dirty (like your car, hint, hint!)...

Certificates are valid at both Carolina Auto Spa locations- Maynard Rd near High House and Hwy 55 in Apex near the Dunkin' Donuts and Hwy 55 diner.
Purchase from the band for $24 each (the cost of a Deluxe Wash)
Payment must be made a the time of purchase- cash or check, cannot be deducted from your band account
Your account will be credited $8 for each certificate
You can purchase certificates for your own use or sell them to friends and neighbors.

If you'd like to purchase some car wash certificates, please email me at, and I can deliver them to you at the concert next Thursday.

Extra Fruit and Nuts Available

posted Dec 11, 2018, 1:20 PM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Dec 11, 2018, 1:21 PM ]

Hello Band Families!

We were thrown a few curves on delivery day, but as Doc likes to say, "It's all good"!  Thanks to everyone for going with the flow!

We hope you were able to deliver items to your customers before the snow and ice kept you inside.  If you haven't yet inspected and delivered your orders, please do so ASAP and let us know if there are any issues that need to be resolved.  Orders were checked three times, but with that many items to check we know there's still the possibility of an error.  We want to resolve any issues promptly and make sure customers receive their orders quickly while the quality is best.

If you missed the sale or just want a little more of your favorite items, you're in luck!  Every year, we have extras after delivery day.  Because fruit is perishable and we never know what the crop will look like, we order a little extra to replace any bad pieces.  This year's fruit crop was great, which means we have a lot of tasty items left over.  The nuts come in cases, so there are always a few cans left over.

Check out what's left below.  If you'd like to purchase anything, please email us, and we'll set it aside and work out a time to get it to you. Extras are first come first served, and anything that's left will be available at the holiday concert on the 20th.  Email address is

Hello Band Family!  As many of you may know, several of our wind ensemble and marching band students (Anna Vtipil, Taylor Woodhouse, Will Wakeford, and Martha Davies-Cutting) are also in vocal ensemble with Mr. Santangelo.  This year vocal ensemble entered the WRALFM Christmas Choir Competition and has been chosen as a top 9 finalist.  If Athens makes it to the top 3, the choral department will win either $1,000.00, $3,000.00 or $5,000.00 for the choral program!!

Beginning Monday,  WRALFM will feature 3 of the top 9 entries each day on their program and website.  We don’t yet know which day (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday) ADHS will be featured, but we would LOVE to have everyone’s support and votes!  The top vote getter from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be featured in the finals on Thursday.

Please share with your friends and spread the word on social media - instagram, FB, and twitter!  Every vote counts and will help us make it to finals!

Here is a link to the choir competition where you can hear all 9 entries, including the Athens entry called “A Very Pentatonixy Christmas .

Thank you!

Scrip Order Due Sunday, December 2

posted Nov 30, 2018, 2:04 PM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Nov 30, 2018, 2:04 PM ]

Hello Band Families!

Our monthly SCRIP order for physical gift cards is coming up on Sunday, December 2nd!  Please submit your order by Sunday at midnight.  I want to have the order early in the month to allow plenty of time for using the physical cards for holiday shopping and for gift giving.  The order should be ready for pick up by Thursday, December 6th.  I will work out something with each of you to pick up your order that week.

Remember that this is for physical gift cards.  ScripNow e-gift cards can be ordered at any time.  Please note that PrestoPay is the easiest way to pay for your scrip orders. Let me know if you need help setting this up. If you selected to pay by check, your checks need to be delivered to me by Oct 28th or your order will not be placed.

Why am I so passionate about the Scrip program?  Is it because the band program makes money off of your Scrip purchases?  No!  100% of the rebates go directly into YOUR band account.  I  encourage all band families to use Scrip because I know the real value of the program.  You can easily make hundreds of dollars every year for your band account!  If you want more information about how to effectively use Scrip to earn big $$, contact me and I'll be happy to help.

Scrip cards (and grocery cards) are the only band fundraisers that put your every day spending dollars to work – FREE MONEY!!!  This email contains information about the Scrip Program and how it can positively change the balance on your band account.  Also attached is a flyer that has information about the SCRIP program and some helpful hints and tips for using the program and placing orders.

Great Lakes Scrip Center offers gift cards to over 700 of the country’s biggest brands, including grocery, department stores, gas stations, restaurants, hotels, home improvement, and more. Just by using Scrip to pay for your normal purchases, you can easily bank money to your student band account. It’s time to put your shopping dollars to work! A complete listing of participating companies is available at

HOW DOES IT WORK?  Scrip cards are regular gifts cards that you purchase at face value.  The retailer then gives a rebate, usually between 2%-14% of the face value, directly into YOUR band account.  For example, if you purchased a $100 Belk gift card, you pay $100 for the card and have $100 to spend at Belk.  Then Belk donates 8% ($8.00) to your band account.  Free Money!  You will be amazed and astounded at how quickly it adds up simply by spending money “differently” through Scrip

WHAT TYPE OF GIFT CARDS ARE AVAILABLE?  Scrip has three different options for purchasing gift cards.  Many companies offer all 3 gift card options but the options available vary by company.

1. Physical Gift Cards:  We order these as a Band group once a month.  You order these cards online any time during the month then a Band group order is submitted, typically a week before our monthly band parent meetings.  You can either pay for your cards at the time of ordering using the PrestoPay service or by delivering a check prior to the group order placement.  See below for details on payment methods.  You will receive an email about one week in advance of order placement as a reminder.  A few days later we receive the group’s gift cards and distribute them to you, usually at the monthly Band Booster meeting.  Physical gift cards are great for gifts or for planned (and controlled) spending.

2. ScripNow E-Card:  Make purchases online or at a physical store or have a meal at a restaurant but hop over to the Scrip website before you pay.  Buy a ScripNow gift card with PrestoPay to use as payment for your purchases.  These cards are available for you to use within minutes of purchase.

3. Reload:  With re-loadable physical gift cards, you have the flexibility to add money to the gift card anytime using PrestoPay!  These gift cards work well for places you regularly shop.  Note that not all physical gift cards are reloadable.  You will know it's reloadable if the Reload option is available.

GETTING STARTED:  Set up your own personal account at and link to the Athens Drive Band Boosters with the enrollment code 3BDECC2F2L1L.  Feel free to contact me if you have problems and I will help you through the process.

PrestoPay:  This is the preferred and easiest method of payment.  It is Scrip's secure service to purchase gift cards by using funds directly from your bank account.  Set up PrestoPay from your Scrip account on the website.
Check:  Make your check out to ADHS Band Boosters and deliver it to Carol before the order date to be included in the monthly order

CURRENT SPECIALS:  In addition to offering great contributions on every day gift cards, Scrip runs specials and flash sales on a regular basis.  This means that a retailer's usual rebate percentage is temporarily increased.  For example, The Gap may increase it's normal rebate of 14% to 18%.  Also, a few times a year, Scrip has a ThankScripping Day.  This is a day where many, many retailers have increased rebates for that day only.  Take advantage of these specials!  Even if you don’t “need” anything right now, you can purchase cards ahead of time that you know you will use in the future.  Set up your Scrip account so that you receive email alerts for active specials.  Check out the "What's New" tab to see all the recent listings.
Any questions, please send to

Happy Scripping!

GoFundMe WP - Drumming Up Dollars for Dayton

posted Nov 30, 2018, 10:31 AM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Nov 30, 2018, 10:31 AM ]

Our GoFundMe Campaign to assist Winter Percussion students to get to the 2019 WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio is here! Please Click here to support Drumming up Dollars for Dayton organized by Athens Drive Band Boosters

Drumming up Dollars for Dayton

The Athens Drive High School Winter Percussion group is on a mission to raise $10,000 towards the cost of our trip to the April 2019 WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio.
The WGI World Championships give our students the incredible opportunity to perform and compete with other percussion groups from around the world. We need YOUR help to make this incredible experience a reality! With the help of 200 generous supporters donating $50 each, we will be able to reach our fundraising goal. Please, consider donating for these 3 wonderful reasons:

1) Performing at the World Championships in Dayton, Ohio is an incredible experience!  Percussion students who have had the opportunity to experience the World Championships say it’s an inspiring, energizing, unforgettable, life-changing experience, and truly unlike any other musical event! Not only do the students have the opportunity to perform and compete in front of thousands of people, but they are also able to interact with and watch some of the most talented percussion groups in the world, a truly priceless experience.

2) The Athens Drive Band prides itself on the socioeconomic diversity of its members and is committed to supporting all students in their quest to create music that puts smiles on people’s faces. Despite the smaller ensemble size of the Winter Percussion group - 23 students this season, there are high operating costs, including staffing, music, props, uniforms, and transportation of students and equipment. The $845 per student fair share assessment covers the expenses incurred during the regular season but doesn’t cover any of the cost of the trip to Dayton.  All of our Winter Percussion members are also marching band students, who pay a fair share assessment of over $1,200 in the Fall. To participate in both groups, families are spending over $2,000 per student.  For this reason, fundraising to help offset the additional expense of the trip to Dayton is crucial for our students.

3) Your tax-deductible donation will help make our students’ dreams come true. Traveling to Dayton with the Winter Percussion ensemble is no small task. The trip costs include transportation of instruments, props, and equipment; hotels and meals for 4 days; and ticket fees of over $200 per student. The Athens Drive Band Boosters is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, making your donation through this campaign is 100% Tax deductible - Tax ID 65-1227864.  Donate before Dec. 31 and write your donation off on your 2018 taxes. Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps us get closer to realizing these hardworking musicians’ dreams.
