Cary Music & Arts Festival - Volunteers Needed

posted by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated ]

This Sunday looks like it will be a beautiful evening for The Cary Music and Arts Festival! Come join us for a free night of music and art from 5:30pm to 8:00pm to enjoy dance, jazz band and our own Wind Ensemble performances! The Athens jazz band performs at 6:30pm and the Athens Wind Ensemble performs at 7:30pm. Other performances will be by Cary Academy, Cardinal Gibbons and Green Hope. The Athens art department will be displaying their artwork on the Crescent deck.

Bring your own picnic or enjoy concessions at Koka Booth. Since it is a Town of Cary event, you can even bring wine or beer if you'd like.

Because of rescheduling, we are in need of a few more volunteers to help hand out programs, collect donations and hand out raffle tickets. If you'll be there, would you please consider spending an hour helping out?
Please email me to let me know if you can help! (Please see Yahoo! mail for e-mail details)

Thanks so much and see you all Sunday!

What's Your Status?

posted by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated ]

s your band account current?  The most recent Band Statement was emailed on April 21.  Please refer to your emailed statement for your latest balance.  The due date for ALL band related expenses including winter programs and the Atlanta trip has past, so please make your best effort to ensure that your account is current.  The majority of families have $0 or a credit balance!  That’s incredible!!!  Thanks for all your hard work, diligence and commitment to regularly making payments on your band account!

For those who still have balances over $0, overdue accounts are reported to the school office at the end of April/early May and are recorded on the student's WCPSS account. Those students may be restricted from student privileges such as:

·         receiving prom tickets

·         obtaining a parking pass

·         participating in graduation

·         registering for marching band, etc.

We do not like to refer accounts to the school office because it is an unnecessary inconvenience for all concerned, and there can be significant delays for payments to be cleared once they have been reported to the school. Fortunately, there are only a handful of accounts each year that reach this point.

For your convenience, the ADHS Band Boosters accept several forms of payment, including electronic payments from Dwolla, credit cards, or checks.  Please refer to the payment section of the website for links to electronic payment options and complete details.

Help keep the band program financially healthy with timely payments. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

The last April North Carolina FC fundraiser game at Wake Med Soccer Park is now posted.  This is NC Courage (Women's Team) playing Orlando Pride on Saturday, April 29th.

The game time is approximately 4:00pm - 6:00pm (with no weather delays), with a report time of 2:30pm.  The pay is $20 per person.  The dress code, sign in procedure, parking info, etc. can all be found on the signup.  Games are usually rain or shine.

To access the signup, please visit the band's web page at athensdriveband.com, click on the orange 'Volunteer Signups' button, and on the following page, click on the "North Carolina Football Club Signups" link.

Note:  I have relabeled the spots "Adult" and "Student".  If the adult spots fill, I will convert some of the student spots.  As a reminder, we are supposed to have at least 1 adult per 2 current Athen's students.  Middle school students (13+) must each work with a parent or appointed guardian.

Please direct any questions to ncfc@athensdriveband.com.
Thank you!

URGENT - Cary Music & Arts Festival Rescheduled to Next Sunday, April 30 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM Due to Weather

posted Apr 22, 2017, 11:24 AM by Kimberly Lowe   [ updated Apr 22, 2017, 11:25 AM ]

The weather forecast continues to look like rain tomorrow (80 to 90 percent chance all day and evening) as well as being considerably colder (temperatures in the 50s.)

To ensure that we protect the artwork and the instruments, and improve our likelihood of a good audience turnout, we have decided to reschedule the festival for next Sunday, April 30th.

Please be on the lookout for details in the coming week. Thanks for your flexibility and commitment to the festival!

High Point University - Performance Details

posted Apr 22, 2017, 6:54 AM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Apr 22, 2017, 6:56 AM ]

We're all looking forward to the Wind Ensemble's Honor Band concert at High Point University on Saturday at 3:30.  The concert will be held in the Hayworth Fine Arts Center on the campus of High Point University.

Come enjoy the magnificent music of our fabulous students and fill the auditorium! From Athens Drive, the trip is only about 90 minutes.  We're sure it will be worth the drive!  Carpool and catch up with some of your band friends (or make new friends)!

Our University representative gave us this additional information:
The school address is:
One University Parkway
High Point, NC  27268

Google Maps may not recognize that address yet.  If that doesn't work, use:
833 Montileu Avenue
High Point, NC 27262

Looks like parking is directly across the street.

Hope to see many of you there to support our hard working students!

Band account statements emailed today - all balances due

posted Apr 21, 2017, 8:08 AM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Apr 21, 2017, 8:08 AM ]

As we are wrapping up another very successful year, this is a reminder to review the band statement you received this morning and take care of any remaining balance on your account. Keeping your account current allows us to honor our obligations to our staff and suppliers and keep our program strong. Your account must be in good standing for your student to participate in the Atlanta trip and/or register for marching band next fall.

If you did not receive a statement, please check your spam folder and then notify treasurer@athensdriveband.com if you need us to resend.

Thanks so much for your help!

BBQ Call To Action!

We've got a few ideas to help make this Spring's Band BBQ a success! As one of our biggest fundraisers, this BBQ needs to be successful to help fund our upcoming band program events, trips and all other activities.

How you can help:
Meet us and other BBQ-ties this Friday, April 21st at 1pm at the Office Depot parking lot at Cary Crossroads. Flyers will be available on-site.
Get the word out via Facebook, Twitter, your office, or local businesses you frequent - flyer and order form.

If you would like the flyer or order form as a jpg for quick mobile sharing, email us: bbq@athensdriveband.com.
And remember, there are prizes to win if your name is picked from the volunteer names.

Thank you all for everything you do!

Can you help?

posted Apr 20, 2017, 5:48 AM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Apr 20, 2017, 5:48 AM ]

The Athens Drive Band Program has been an integral part of the Cary Music and Arts Festival since it's inception a few years ago.  As part of our key role in this amazing festival, we have to transport A LOT of equipment to Koka Booth on Sunday afternoon.  Can you help?

We need a pick-up truck with electric brakes that can pull one of the band trailers.  The trailer and equipment would need to be at Koka Booth by 3pm for the first band.  When things wrap up at the festival (around 8:30pm), the trailer will need to be pulled back to Athens. The truck driver would NOT need to be there for loading.

If you can help serve the band and community in this way, or if you have specific questions, please contact Corey Benson at vpoperations@athensdriveband.com.
Thanks for your assistance!  We're looking forward to seeing you all on the lawn for a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Koka Booth!
