Dodge Badge. Founded as Dodge Bothers Company by brothers Horace and John Dodge in 1900. Primarily to precision engine and chassis components to the growing Detroit Motor Industry. By 1914 Horace had become frustrated with the component industry and found a solution by creating the new four cylinder Dodge 30 Model. By 1916 Dodge was rated in 2nd place for US sales. Continuing in 2nd place until 1920 when tragedy struck, John died of pneumonia in January and in December Horace died of cirrhosis. The ownership was taken over by the widows who promoted Frederick Haynes to the company presidency. During the next years the Model 30 evolved into the Series 116 and Dodge emerged as a leading builder of light trucks. In 1925 the widows sold the company to Dillon Read + Co. for $ 146 million but the companies position was falling. Late 1925 the company aquired Graham for ? 13 million. Dillon + Read were essentially an investment company and had been looking for a potential buyer, in 1928 the company was sold to the Chrysler Corporation were the brand was slotted between Plymouth and De Soto. Dodge along with the Chrysler corporation is now part of Chrysler Group LLC with alliances to Fiat Picture taken from the hood of a 1939 Dodge Four Door Sedan Shot 27:02:2011 at The Brooklands Motor Museum.
