The Art of Pressing Flowers…
The Art of Pressing Flowers…
Of course you wouldn’t use an iron… Here’s how you do it… Gather clean specimens that are free of blemishes and spots. Collect flowers on sunny days when they are not wet from rain or dew. Snip stems close to the base, or leave flowers on stems; place the flowers facedown in a telephone book. Close and weight the book, and leave undisturbed for a week to 10 days. Open the book slowly, and you’ll find papery pressed flowers. Flat or fine blossoms and leaves, such as pansies, violas, verbena, Queen Anne ys lace, and many ferns and herbs, press especially well. Pressed botanicals tend to fade over time, so blooms with more intense colors offer the best results. Never gather species that are protected or endangered; if in doubt, check local regulations. Shooting Tips I used three flash heads to shoot this... One was on a boom stand… One was bouncing off ceiling and one I hold in my hand and continually move it until I like the effect… But you will notice that my background is not pure white… This was done intentionally. I instructed the model of the expression that I was looking for… I also used this old iron to create interest of the shoot… This image was meant to make you smile... I Hope you're smiling... :) TIO
