"Vets Educating Vets"

Vets Educating Vets is a newly developing pro bono CE provider in S.E. Asia.

VeV is in contact with veterinary associations in South and South East Asia, looking to see what, if any, assistance we can provide. At the moment we are looking for volunteers - either with time or resources. We need not only specialists, but experienced veterinary surgeons who have a number of years experience in general practice, small or large animal, equine, regulatory or academic.

The basic model for a VeV event is as follows:
  • A regional association requests assistance in hosting a CE event;
  • Approximate dates are decided & potential speakers identified;
  • The host association provides all local requirements, including venues, refreshments etc for the seminar;
  • Visiting speakers pay their own airfares & accommodation;
  • The local host acts as a  "tour guide" for 2 or more days, showing the speakers both sites of both veterinary & tourist interest.

VeV acts purely as an intermediary, putting speakers & the regional veterinary associations together.

About VeV

VeV came about as a collaboration between Dr. Shane Ryan from SVA & his class-mate from the University of Queensland Dr. Bill Ryan, a private practitioner from Melbourne.

In May 2011, Bill gave a seminar on veterinary dentistry to 35 small animal practitioners of the newly-formed Vietnamese Small Animal Veterinary Association in Ho Chi Minh City in May 2011. The seminar was very well received & was regarded by the attendees, the speaker & the organisers as a great success.
