The successful candidate will perform and direct the integrated design of HVAC systems for healthcare, research, education and commercial projects from conceptual design through construction, commissioning, and project close out. He or she will also mentor others, assume responsibility for project quality control, and be part of an interdisciplinary team to provide project and engineering group leadership. The candidate will have the ability to lead large projects and interface effectively with clients and members of the project team.
A proactive, collaborative approach to relationships with project teams, owners, and contractors is necessary. Significant project experience in highly technical healthcare and science and technology environments required in addition to research labs.
Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or Bachelors of Architectural Engineering with a Mechanical concentration required. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience required. PE preferred. Experience leading Revit teams required. LEED Accreditation and Certified Energy Professional status preferred.

Mechanical Engineering Department Head- Buffalo, NY
KHEOPS Architecture, Engineering and Survey, DPC (KHEOPS), a professional services firm and sister company of KHAFRA Engineering Consultants, Inc., has an opening for a Mechanical Engineering Department Head that will also serve as Regional Manager of the Buffalo office. KHEOPS is headquartered in Buffalo, New York with roots dating back to 1917. As a full-service architectural, engineering and survey firm, KHEOPS provides complete engineering services from conceptual planning, through design and construction phase administration. The firm specializes in serving the needs of industrial, commercial, institutional, municipal, state and federal clients.
The Mechanical Department Head will actively manage the day-to-day departmental business including planning, staffing, and execution of all projects assigned within the discipline; will also serve as the Head of MEP firm wide; review of budgets, schedules and monitors project progress, costs and coordinates labor requirements with Project Engineers and production staff; Supervise staff to ensure that value engineering and scope control are accomplished and to ensure that projects are designed to meet client’s needs and are delivered within established budgets and schedules; Review system selection for conformance with client’s and firm’s project goals; Act as Senior Project Engineer on select projects.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Required); State of New York Registered Professional Engineer (Required); 15+ years’ engineering experience; 5+ years’ experience as Project Manager; 5+ years of leadership experience; Working knowledge of applied design disciplines; Good communications/ presentation skills; Consistent focus on meeting/exceeding both company financial objectives and client expectations; Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of mechanical engineering including plumbing/fire protection; Ability to prepare budgets and schedules and implement programs; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; Demonstrated ability to manage a staff of technical employees.
