Welcome to the Ashland Volunteers! Website

“How can we expect our children to know and experience the joy of giving unless we teach them
that the
greater pleasure in life lies in the art of giving rather than receiving.”

~ James Cash Penney

Why volunteer?

Volunteers are an invaluable resource and a key component to the success of the children in Ashland.  Ashland Volunteers! helps identify opportunities to volunteer within the schools and school related organizations.  The beauty of volunteerism is that, not only do the kids benefit, but so do the adults!  The gift of volunteering allows you to:
  • Share your skills and abilities in a meaningful way
  • Become involved in areas that interest you and where you can offer value
  • Work within your boundaries of time and level of commitment based on your individual needs and situation
  • Get to know school staff and administration
  • Gain greater insight into how our schools operate
  • Take pride in being part of programs and day-to-day activities that make a difference for the kids
  • Be a role model and show your children the value of helping others
  • Enjoy the camaraderie of working hand-in-hand with others vested in striving for excellence within the district
  • Expand your network and connections to others in the community, particularly those with a similar passion for the town
  • Have fun watching the kids in action!

What types of volunteer opportunities are available?

Do you work full-time during the day and have limited opportunity to volunteer within the schools?  Are you home with young children and not able to get out of the house at night for meetings?  Are you looking for an opportunity to take on a leadership role and achieve some personal growth?  Regardless of your personal situation, volunteering is still a possibility for you.

There is a range of needs across all of the schools and organizations that support the schools, resulting in a vast pool of volunteer opportunities.  From being hands on in the classroom, to participating as a board member, to serving behind the scenes as it fits into your schedule, there is a place for you to get started.  And, as your availability changes based on family and/or job commitments, you can adjust how and when you volunteer.  The level of flexibility is key to the success of a volunteer organization and one of the reasons that makes it so easy to be involved.

How do I get started?

The best place to get started is to educate yourself about the various volunteer opportunities available and determine which are the best fit based on your interests, skill set and availability.  Browse through the links to the left and learn about all the wonderful work being done already and how you can become a part of our culture of volunteerism.  Then send an email to the contacts listed and see where your help is needed today!

WARREN SCHOOL

Massachusetts Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program

The Warren Elementary School is planning its Second Annual Pedestrian Training program for our second grade students.

We are looking for parent volunteers to help lead the children on short walks to teach them about walking safety, such as how to cross streets, walk safely in parking lots, follow signs and signals, and be alert to drivers.

We will train you, just prior to the walks with the children. Then you will be more than ready to lead two children at a time on a 20-30 minute safety learning experience. One adult walks with only two students for maximum safety and individual attention to children.

Trainings will be held Thursday June 4th and Friday June 5th from 9:00 AM to approximately 11:30 AM at the Warren School.

If you are willing to help out, please contact Lisa Beaudin at

lbeaudin@ashland.k12.ma.us

or 508-881-0165.

Walk in good health!
