Interested in a lowcost Subscription to Permaculture Activist?

Permaculture Activist is the main magazine of permaculture movment in North America. In its words, its "primary goal is to provide useful information to people actively working to establish permaculture systems 'on the ground' ".

You can subscribe to it for $23/year, and get it mailed to your house. It comes out four times a year.

I'm trying organize a bulk subscription ($12/year-- $3/issue). The issue would not come to your house, but to Outspoken Books, 721 Haywood Road, West Asheville, NC  28806, which is open Mon/Tu/Wed/Fri 9 AM to 7 PM, Sat/Sun 9 AM to 5 PM (closed Thursdays), where you could pick it up. They serve coffee, expresso, sandwiches and smoothies.

Issues come out in the first week of February, May, August, and November.

You can see portions of issues online at
http://www.permacultureactivist.net

If you are interested in this idea, please contact Jim at acp2006 at gmail.com
before October 1st. The $12 payment would be cash (maybe with check). The subscription would start with the November 2006 issue (unless most folks would prefer to start with the August issue).

There is no Buncombe County library branch yet which subscribes to Permaculture Activist. Warren Wilson keeps one year's worth of backissues, and UNCA does not have a subscription listed in their online catalog. You can buy a copy of the Activist for $6.50 at Downtown Books on Lexington Ave, but call (828) 253-8654 to make sure they have one in stock.

Interested in Joining with others to access permaculture books?

The West Asheville branch of the Buncombe County library has expressed interest in going in on some permaculture books with the Guild.

The advantage of donating books to the library is that they can handle the hassles of storing, and cataloging books, and nagging delinquent borrowers. They can buy books at a discount.

If this idea intrigues you, email Jim at acp2006 at gmail.com

If you have a Buncombe County library card, you can reserve books online 24 hours a day, and have them delivered to any branch you want.

To find out what books they have now, visit
http://librarycatalog.abls.lib.nc.us
and look up the subject or title word permaculture.
