Our First Home
We bought our house in August 2007 and have been updating it slowly.  Goodbye early '90s builder basic!

Living Room

This room is almost the way we want it.  Furniture: Rooms to Go.  Pillows and curtains: Pier 1.

This is our lovely new dining set from World Market.  (Excuse the dogs in the photo.)

We got this cabinet for free from my mom's friend.

After:

Stained to match the table and removed the window pane pieces.

Chandelier before

New chandelier from Lowe's.  Love it!

Couldn't resist this shot!

My DIY artwork.  I painted over these canvases twice trying to find the perfect look for the room.                     Love how they turned out!

The room is finally finished!

Foyer

It's tough to get a good pic of this area but this is after you come through the door.

That's an antique radio and my great aunt did the painting of Frank Sinatra.

Powder Room Re-do

This is what it looked like the day we moved in.

After!  Paint and new fixtures.  All that's left is the light fixture.

 Kitchen Makeover

A few before pics.  The previous owner had upgraded to the stainless steel appliances

and painted the walls.  The rest was original.

The Latest "After" Photos

We have painted the cabinets and added hardware, put in granite countertops and

a new sink and faucet, installed laminate hardwood floors, backsplash and just had microwave installed.

All that's left is new light fixtures!

Other side of the kitchen.  Also a good shot of the floors.

Yay, new light fixture!

My DIY artwork additions

This was an impulse purchase at Pier 1.

I got the little paintings in Paris and I couldn't find a place for them, so here they are for now.

The before.  Yes, all the baths were that orange color.

After.  Painted cabinets; walls Great Green by SW.

I think I paid $6 for this mirror.  And how funny is that reflection!?

After

The Office

Random shelves

Futon: Target

Added my Europe photos.

Guest Room

An embarassment at this time.  Photos to come.

Guest Bath

Same deal as the other baths, a work in progress.

The Back Yard

We've done a lot back here.  When we moved in you couldn't walk without stepping through ivy

and there was hardly any grass.  We put in the fence and the sod and planted some stuff that

has mostly died due to the drought here.  Still looks better than it did before at least

and we love finally having a fenced-in yard.

Before

After

Grass is a little patchy due to drought but at least the ivy is contolled now.

Patio furniture: Lowe's; umbrella and cushions: Pottery Barn

These don't look quite as nice now.

And these look completely dead.

The roses are the only thing that still look good.
