About me

Many of my patterns are available on Ravelry.

I can't remember when I didn't knit.  I have taught locally and regionally and have been fortunate to study with nationally and internationally recognized knitters.  I love to lead students to the joy of knitting and then watch them become independent knitters, helping them create their own designs and make decisions about how they want to adapt patterns.  My special passions are cables, lace and two color knitting such as Fair Isle and Scandanavian patterns.
Working with hand spun and hand dyed yarns are a passion.

Does a Bear Knit in the Woods? retreats have become an institution!
I feel privileged to design for several yarn companies.  I design patterns for Cascade Yarns , Noro, Tilli Tomas and Claudia Hand Painted Yarns and do custom designs for individuals and groups and some artisan companies.  I am excited to be working with local and regional fiber producers.  I  publish in books and magazines.  Watch for upcoming Zealana patterns.
I love the confluence of all the fiberarts - knitting, spinning, weaving, felting.

I am increasingly working with and teaching about the wonderful variety of sheep (and other fiber animals) which are available to us.  Supporting shepherds and preserving our heritage breeds are passions about which I feel strongly!

Do join me on an adventure to knit with gusto and find satisfaction in your every stitch!
