Statement of Artistic Practice

There is a sense and way of being that is unnoticed until one is immersed in another place.  At this other place, one begins to understand difference and change. Remaining, whether by choice or by circumstance, the tidal force of the place is a wave that engulfs and changes one in ways never thought possible. I had been living in Morocco for 10 years and after returning to the US I felt it necessary to visually manifest the emotional and mental change that I had undergone.  I have been representing this journey/transformation by visual esoterica, my ‘language’ only for the initiated; symbols and occlusions that seem both strange and familiar. Although not privy to the ‘language’, the uninitiated viewer approach the work to petition inclusion through personal interpretation.
