This is a tutorial to explain the Arts and Digital Culture area of ACM MM to researchers who have no experience with the area but are curious to learn more or participate in the Arts & Digital Culture technical program.
ACM MM 2015 in Brisbane, Australia. (Half day course)
ACM MM 2014 in Orlando Florida, USA. (Half day course)
It comes with the conference registration (so we think so far).
In 2004, ACM Multimedia began its Interactive Arts program as a joint technical track and associated gallery track. The goal was to offer a high quality publication venue for interactive and artistic multimedia systems as well as bring greater socio-cultural awareness into the conference. In 2011, the Arts papers became part of the official Technical Program for Multimedia and in 2012 the best student paper was an Arts submission in Nara Japan. As the area and track grows, we aim for the how and why of the Arts program to reach to new community members as well as begin interoperation with other ACM Special Interest Groups. The purpose of this tutorial is to serve as an introduction to the Interactive Arts and Digital Culture track at ACM MM for both those actively engaged in the Arts as well as those with no previous technical arts engagement. In particular, this tutorial will focus on the latter uninitiated scientists, researchers, and practitioners.
