Artist Biography/CV

Whitby resident, Laura M. Hair is a graduate of the Creative Arts Program at Georgian College School of Design and Visual Arts, Barrie. Hair has an extensive exhibition history throughout southern Ontario. Her artwork has also been exhibited in the United States, Mexico and China, where she was among the first of seven Canadian artists to exhibit work at The Beijing National Art Museum. Laura completed an Artist Residency at the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington and received the Executive Director’s Artist Recognition Award. Hair is an instructor for the Media Art and Design School at Durham College, Oshawa. Past art instruction includes; ArtsInfused Learning-curriculum based projects within the Durham District School Board, The Arts Resource Centre, Oshawa, The Visual Arts Centre of Clarington, The Station Gallery, Whitby and The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa. She is a founding member of the IRIS Group, a collective of Durham Region artists, curators, instructors and writers who promote art awareness through interactive workshops and exhibits. Hair's solo exhibit, To Walk the River Flow, further explored her continuing theme of aggregated states of being that provide evidence of the genetic genesis of Nature.
