Painting flowers with acrylic on canvas Older work Recent work
About
I am an artist and architect based in Camlough, Newry, South Armagh, Northern Ireland. I paint pictures in acrylic, water colour and oil ,from the subject and memory, of scenes around Camlough, Bessbrook and Newry. I paint Irish subjects, portraits and from the imagination. I do not paint or draw from photographs. You can view recent work online here or see what was in the February 2010 Olive exhibition here. .
Exhibition
I took part in the Architect as Artist exhibition in Malone House in Belfast, December and 1st week January, 2010/11. The exhibition was well subscribed to by architect/artists and there were some beautiful paintings to be seen. The landscapes of Paul O'Kane particularly impressed me as did the surreal graphics of Colin Maxwell, a departure from his beautifully rendered buildings of last year. There were some sensitive portraits by Inez Mawhinney and wonderfully colourful photographs by Tânia Marques who were exhibiting for the 1st time. I showed 'Copters and Crows' and 'Atop Camlough Mountain'. You can see them here or on the fabulous New Irish Art website newirishart.com
Recently
I haven't painted in over a year now. I kept meaning to but (among many other things) I had a largish architectural project to manage, see here, and I was working on a Sketchup plugin called WinDoor, see here, which totally preoccupied me. I'll go back to it when the I'm in the mood.
