Challenger: Lady Elysabeth Underhill
This challenge has 4 categories. Entrants must specify which category of the challenge they are entering.
1. Youth Spinning: Spin a small skein of wool yarn or bring in your spindle with some spun yarn on it. All entrants will receive a Token of Appreciation for having taken up this wonderful art!
2. Beginning Spinning: Spin a skein of wool yarn. Entrants in this category should have been spinning for a year or less. All entrants will receive a Token of Appreciation for having taken up this wonderful art!
3. Intermediate Spinning: Spin a skein. Entrants should A) Include documentation describing the spinning process - description of the fiber and spindle/wheel used, details about the method of washing and/or plying, include process photos in your documentation, etc. B) Either spin something other than wool or spin using a fiber you have prepared (Combed or Carded) yourself.
4. Advanced Spinning: Spin using a fiber you have prepared yourself, but also spin with a period purpose in mind. Include this information in your documentation. Would your yarn be more suitable for knitting, weaving, or some other art form? How do the properties of the fiber effect its potential use? If you can, include a small sample of your yarn knitted, woven, etc. according to its intended use.
Each category will have a winner. Winners will receive a prize
