Katharina Naomi Paul, born in Giessen, Germany, received her first violin lessons at the age of 4. She studied with Kathrin Scholz at the "Hochschule fuer Kuenste" in Bremen, with Christian Tetzlaff and finally with Elisabeth Kufferath at the "Hochschule fuer Musik" in Detmold, where she has graduated in Dec.2007. As a scholarship holder of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) she studies the masters since Sept.2008 with Stephanie Gonley at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
She had early orchestral experience as a member of the German Youth Orchestra (Bundesjugendorchester), German Student Orchestra (Junge Deutsche Philharmonie) and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. In the Youth Orchestra Bremen, the Orchestra of the "Hochschule für Künste" Bremen and of the "Hochschule für Musik" Detmold she served as concert master. Since March 2008, Katharina Paul is in the String Scheme of the Northern Germany Broadcast (NDR) Orchestra in Hamburg. She is member of the new chamberorchestra "Spira mirabilis", built up by musicians of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. She is on trial in the Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria (Spain). Katharina has numerous temporary jobs with the German Chamberorchestra (Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen) and the Chamberorchestra of Mantova (Orchestra da camera di Mantova -Italy).
Important chambermusic impulses did she receive from the Auryn Quartet, the Belcea Quartet, from Andras Schiff, Christian Tetzlaff, Jean Efflam Bavouzet and Alexander Baillie. She took part in several chambermusic masterclasses in Germany and Finland. She has been always interested in Contemporary Music and worked already together with composers like Klaus Huber and Youngi Pagh Pan. 2008 Katharina played in the Chambermusic festival of contemporary music in Witten (Wittener Kammermusiktage für Neue Musik).
She has been awarded numerous 1st prizes in competitions, both as a soloist and as a chambermusician, such as "Jugend Musiziert" (German youth competition), the Chambermusic Competition in Bremen and the competition of the "Hochschule für Künste" Bremen. In international masterclasses with Werner Scholz, Igor Ozim, Gorjan Kosuta and Roman Nodel she received additional musical impulses.
