Crochet Bouquet: Easy Designs for Dozens of Flowers
Crochet bouquets of nearly 50 whimsical, wonderful flowers, in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors! Done in upscale yarns like ribbon, chenille, and silk, this contemporary garden will get intermediate-level crocheters grasping their hooks. Some of the flora looks realistic; others are beautifully fanciful, pure products of the imagination. A simple, well-photographed basics section explains how to create them all: specialty techniques include felting, stacking the flowers, stiffening the petals, and linking the flowers together. ?Grow” daffodils, dahlias, ferns, firewheels, primroses, sunflowers, and violets?or even a fantastic blossom with layers of scalloped petals radiating out in increasing size from a crystal button center. For added inspiration, a series of showcase projects incorporates the blossoms, including hats, backpacks, pillows, and cards.
Reminds me of one of my favorite songs of Bobby Darin. From the Broadway Musical Tenderloin by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick. Alone in the world was poor little Anne As sweet a young child as you'd find Her parents had gone to their final reward Leavin' their baby behind Did you hear?.......... This poor little child was only nine years of age When mother and dad went away Still bravely she worked at the one thing she knew To earn her few pennies a day She made artificial flowers, artificial flowers Flowers for ladies of fashion to wear She made artificial flowers, you know those artificial flowers Fashioned from Annie's despair With paper and shears, with some wire and wax She made up each tulip and mum As snowflakes drifted into her tenement room Her baby little fingers grew numb From makin' artificial flowers, those artificial flowers Flowers for ladies of high fashion to wear She made artificial flowers, artificial flowers Made from Annie's despair They found little Annie all covered in ice Still clutchin' her poor frozen shears Amidst all the blossoms she had fashioned by hand And watered with all her young tears There must be a heaven where little Annie can play In heavenly gardens and bowers And instead of a halo she'll wear 'round her head A garland of genuine flowers No more artificial flowers Throw away those artificial flowers Flowers for ladies of society to wear Throw away those artificial flowers Those dumb-dumb flowers Fashioned from Annie's Fashioned from Annie's Despair... Give her the real thing!
Strobist Sundays theme: "Flowers" Artificial flowers with SB-600 camera right on 1/4 power using CLS and reflector camera left. This was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be and I ended up putting a lot of hours into this. I used different backgrounds and colors and a few different kinds of artificial flowers. I think maybe I like black backgrounds too much and so nothing else looks right to me.
