Three Bears' nursery & Garden in Koganei-city have been operated for employees' children of the Studio Ghibli since 2008.
The facilities were designed by Mr. Tatsuya Yamada to provide the employees with ideal environment to work hard without concerning their children.
The architect explains as follows:
The L-shaped building wears non-nationality-air with various expressions provide by differently-shaped roofs, several kinds of outer walls and multi-colored windows. The two tiered complex is consisted of six different levels of floors. Sporadic Reds and greens used there remind them of the legendary under water castle Ryugu-jo of Japanese fairy tale.
According to Mr. Takahiko Inaba, the mayor of the Koganei-city, where the Studio is located, the director Hayao Miyazaki was very happy when they opened.
Mr. Miyazaki made the city's image character Kokin-chan in August 2008.
