Kumoan Palm Bamboo and Morning GLory
Kumoan Palm Bamboo and Morning GLory
This photo was taken about a week ago. Appx 7-1-07 There's some flowering morning glory vines in the low background, climbing the fence. It's flowering much more now (7/6/07). Though many consider this plant to only bloom in the mornings, it does have a little less than partial shade in its location, and blooms throughout the day, but it seems like it may close up a good bit, if not mostly at night. The Kumaon palm tree you see in the front of the picture was grown in my window for around 2.5 years (guestimating, because I don't like to keep track of time). When I bought the seeds from it, I was under the impression that it was endangered. However, now it seems I may have been a victim of fraud! You tell me if it's endangered, if you know, please. The kumaon has been transplanted and moved outside now. It's sprout out about 3 new leaves on 3 stems (after they sprout, they split, if weather conditions permit, if not, they may split and stay together, that's what happened to me- I believe it's habitat conditions at the time were low water, a little less than partial shade, and indoor yearly conditions for about 2 years) so far this summer. Noting, after my wife and I moved the plant outside, the leaves split within a few days at most. The last major plant in this picture is I believe some kind of bamboo, it's stalk or trunk is not strong enough to hold it up with light wind conditions, so as you may be able to see, it has a helping hand being held up, by a string tied to a board. There's actually two stems from the plant standing there, but it may be hard to tell from the viewable angle. Recent weather conditions: It's been up in the 90's for the past few weeks, with high humidty (high enough that it seemed like fog a few nights, but I believe they consider it haze)
A window on...maybe...Lake Street? I love the various shades of green in the bamboo and the way the horizontal lines of the louvers on the left contrast with the vertical bamboo. Definitely inspiration for my next quilt project.
