Welcome to the Action Research Network of the Americas! We are pleased you found your way here and hope you will return often. Our goal is to create a membership base in which members play an active role in working with one another to help develop a growing community in action research. Please explore our webspace and then join with us as a member. ARNA is for action researchers who are working in and beyond the Americas. Join with us as we extend the practice and reach of action research. The Action Research Network of the Americas (ARNA) is dedicated to building a strong network for action researchers, educators, youth workers, and community-based practitioners. The welcome mat icon to the right will take you to more information about ARNA.

Action research involves inquiry into areas of concern or challenge facing communities and practitioners. These concerns are most often linked to education, health and health care, social services, poverty, hunger, and other social justice issues. Practitioner- researchers identify the problem, develop actions to help alleviate some part of the problem, and evaluate the impact of the interventions. In this way it is ‘action’ oriented. Action researchers systematically collect and analye data to obtain credible answers to questions. In this way it is 'research' oriented.
Read the 4th Global Communique on global challenges and the transformation to sustainable societies. ARNA participated in drafting this statement at a conference in Barcelona, Spain in May 2013.
