Webpage of Armenak Antinyan

Welcome to my webpage! I currently serve as the Head of Behavioral Economics at Thames Water (one of the largest utility companies in the UK). In my role, I deal with complex questions, such as increasing the uptake of a smart meter rollout program, reducing water demand, improving the adoption of social tariffs, and reducing bad debt, among others.

I define myself as an applied microeconomist, who employs experimental and quasi-experimental techniques, develops survey tools, and utilizes secondary data to study questions of societal relevance.

I have collaborated with private companies, governments, international development organizations, and charities such as KfW, UNDP, IOM, WHO, Armenian Government, Chinese Tax Authorities, Zinapah, (dealing with servicemen wounded/dead in Armeno-Azerbaijani wars and their families), and Scope (disability charity in the UK and Wales) among others.

My papers are published in reputable peer-reviewed journals in Economics, Psychology, and Sociology, including the Economic Journal, European Economic Review, Social Science and Medicine, and Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization.

Before joining Thames Water I worked as a tenured lecturer at Cardiff Business School (United Kingdom), associate professor at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (China), assistant professor at Tianjin University of Economics and Finance (China), and a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany).

I am originally from Armenia and after travelling half of the world I still believe that it's one of the best countries on Earth.
