Scholarship Awarded

One outstanding student has been awarded an academic scholarship for the last four years for her proven record of continuing achievement.  We wish her well in her college experiences as she pursues her career goals.

Kelly Kowal, Arlington Heights, IL -- $1500 Scholarship for 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015

This is the fourth year for Kelly, who has received our scholarship since 2012.

This will be Kelly's senior year of college at the University of Wisconsin –Platteville, where she has maintained a 3.75 GPA.  She is pursuing an Agricultural Business /Communications & Marketing curriculum.  She will be graduating in December 2015, a full semester early, by taking additional courses each semester along with a summer internship program.

Kelly is an excellent student and involved in many extracurricular activities.  This year she joined NAMA, the National Agri-Marketing Association, which sponsors a Team at UW-Platteville.  This team developed a marketing plan for a product and took it to a national competition where they took 5th place out of 28 teams.  Kelly was selected to present this marketing plan for the competition.  She has also gained experience in her summer internships with the Lake County Farm Bureau and Knupper's Nursery and Landscape.  Over the years Kelly has also been involved in various volunteering activities to the point where volunteering has now become part of her lifestyle.

This scholarship will assist Kelly with the cost of her education during her remaining semester until graduation in December.  It will be interesting to see if graduate school or a job will be the next event on her schedule.

The Arlington Heights Garden Club wishes Kelly great success in whatever she decides to pursue.
