To Students

Studies have shown that individual music lessons provide students with great opportunity for musical and academic growth. Learning an instrument exercises the brain in developing higher-level thinking skills, which leads to many positive side effects; such as: heightened abilities in academic subjects as well as developing higher self-esteem Music theory, ear training, rhythmic studies, technique, scales, chords, music history, memorization, analysis (and much more) and performance in particular styles are all explored in private lessons. Of course, there are many other benefits to studying music and all of them are experienced by a conscientious student in a well-rounded music program.

WITH CONSISTENT PRACTICE of at least 20 minutes a day for young beginners, 45 minutes a day for Junior High and High School students and 60 to 90 minutes a day for performance oriented students, progress will be seen! A practice environment free from distraction; supervision of the young beginner; encouragement and support in establishing good practice habits is essential.

Enrollment is limited as I only take a few students each year.

LESSONS

This year I am teaching in response to specific learning outcomes based on the students' goals.
Within that RCM exams are in mid-June those students taking exams must structure their lessons accordingly..

Instruction is to RCM standards.

THE LESSON TIME IS RESERVED EXCLUSIVELY FOR EACH STUDENT. LESSONS MISSED BY THE STUDENT CANNOT BE MADE UP OR REFUNDED.

When a lesson must be cancelled, a request for a make-up lesson may be considered by the teacher, but is not a studio policy. Lessons cancelled by the teacher will be rescheduled or refunded.

A term to term commitment is requested from the student. Lessons may be terminated by the teacher in the event of irregular attendance, repeated failure to prepare assigned materials or disruptive behaviour.

* Fees are for instruction only. Students should expect other related expenses such as the purchase of music, accompanist fees, and Royal Conservatory exam fees which will vary from student to student.

Photocopied music or any copyright violation will not be allowed.
