Four Seasons of Fun: SKIING, Mountain Biking, Ziplining, Bungee Jumping, Tube Sliding, Archery Courses,

If you are a snow ski enthusiast, the Sunrise Ski Park Resort is just about 34 miles from Show Low. You can escape into the wilderness, ski, mountain bike, enjoy our annual festivals and fish to your heart's content on Sunrise Lake. You can also choose to simply look out on some of the most beautiful land in Arizona.  The resort is owned and operated by the White Mountain Apache Indian Tribe.

The Sunrise Ski Resort is a pleasant 45 minute drive away, offering downhill skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling in the winter. In the summer it is also open and you can then enjoy horseback riding, a summer scenic lift ride, mountain biking, fly-fishing school, archery shoot, ziplining, tube sliding,  and 4th of July fireworks. The General Store and Sunrise Boat Dock are open daily with fishing, camping, and picnic supplies as well as fuel and permits for the White Mountain Apache Reservation. The Marina has boat rentals available and is located on Sunrise Lake.

As if the outdoor activities were not enough, Show Low is just fifteen miles from the Hon-Dah Casino, which offers plenty of slots, poker, and more. The Native American-run casino offers additional year-round entertainment such as concerts, car shows, comedy shows, and pow-wows. The casino also features a restaurant that offers everything from gourmet faire to pizza. The casino is located at the junction of Highway 260 and 73.

Fools Hollow Lake is less than 10 minutes away with camping sites: hookups or tents, boat ramps, picnic tables, picnic ramadas, and grills, private showers and restrooms, and playgrounds. Imagine camping among 100-foot pine trees beside a quiet lake watching majestic great blue herons at a cool 6,300 feet in elevation. Year-round camping, fishing, picnicking, boating and wildlife viewing opportunities make Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area a very popular place. It is an 800-acre, cool, country recreation area with a 150-acre lake.

The trails within the White Mountains Trail System are multi-use trails meaning that foot hiking, mountain biking and even equestrian use are permitted. So use caution. There are over 180 miles of developed trails within the White Mountains System and most are between 8 and 16 miles in length, although there are options for making the trails longer or shorter depending upon time, skill and physical condition. Hikers and bikers can bypass some of the "tricky areas".

A particular feature of the trails in the White Mountains Trail System is that all trails are connected by either connector trails of Forest Roads. It is therefore possible to hike or bike the entire 180 mile system without interruption. It is important to note that the 2002 Rodeo-Chideski Fire adversely effected some trails but most remain in original pristine condition. Many of the trails are considered remote and get little action, so in many cases you'll find yourself alone on some trails.

HORSEBACK RIDING - Visit Torreon Equestrian Center. Located within the Torreon community & Hwy 60. For more information and to sign up for a trail ride or one of our clinics call the Equestrian Center at 928.532.5069.
