I am a development economist using geospatial analysis, remote sensing, and randomized control trials to study the human and ecological impacts of development programs. Much of my work focuses on slowing deforestation in tropical regions, as well as on harnessing social networks to promote sustainable agriculture and other practices.

I also serve as Chief Economist at AidData, a research lab based at William & Mary, where I lead our geospatial analysis efforts. We produce a variety of geospatial data on foreign assistance programs for public use, easily accessible via our GeoQuery tool. We also partner with governments and non-governmental organizations on geospatial impact evaluations (GIEs).
