NNJ Severe Weather Protocol

In keeping with the “home rule” doctrine in New Jersey, and the emphasis it places on county level autonomy. The NNJ section of the ARRL Hudson Division wishes to establish the following protocol with respect to approaching potentially severe weather.

As potentially severe weather approaches New Jersey and NOAA issues a Weather Briefing Package that could affect the NNJ section counties, the Skywarn coordinator, may post alerts to the NNJ ARES leadership. The specific potential severe weather information is available on the NOAA website. or

Regardless it is expected that the NNJ ARES leadership and membership will keep itself self aware of approaching potential severe weather via the NOAA web sites, whether or not timely postings can be made to the NNJ leadership.

You as a NNJ ARES member, need to be self aware of all watches and warnings of all impending bad or potentially severe weather from NOAA at all times on your own.

Please become familiar with the links that this website provides to both the Upton, NY and Mt Holly, NJ NWS offices, particularly the Emergency Managers pages. These links will always provide the latest NWS forecasts, watches and warnings.
