Risk Monetization: Converting Threats and Opportunities into Impact on Project Value
Risk Monetization: Converting Threats and Opportunities into Impact on Project Value
Risk Monetization: Converting Threats and Opportunities into Impact on Project Value addresses the organizational, political, cultural, and technical issues related to implementing a successful risk assessment, management, and monetization process. Suitable for readers in any organization or area of expertise, the book assumes no prior background in risk assessment, management, or monetization.
With more than three decades of experience in risk-process implementation, the author first explains the benefits of the risk-monetization process and how risk matters are generally not handled properly in contemporary organizations. He then introduces the terms and definitions essential to making risk monetization successful in a project. The text goes on to give examples of risk-monetization techniques applied in a variety of settings before discussing the typical risk situation for most projects and the shortcomings of conventional processes. It also describes how risk identification, assessment, management, and monetization processes are set up in an ideal environment as well as in imperfect situations. The final chapter focuses on how investment decisions are made based on the monetization and ranking of risks.
Enhancing your project’s value, this book offers step-by-step practical guidance on identifying, assessing, managing, and monetizing both threats and opportunities so that risk impedes the bottom line as little as possible. It shows you how to convert probable risks into positive impacts on the chance of success and/or profitability of any project.

Leica I, Converted to Leica II
Leica I, Converted to Leica II
This camera arrived this week, a gift from a family friend whose grandfather originally owned the camera. The serial number, 26691, dates it as a 1930 Leica I, but the rangefinder was added later -- Leica customarily would allow owners to send back their Leica's to be converted to the latest model. So I believe it is a Leica II (Model D). Shown with what I expect is the original lens, a nickel Leitz Elmar f=5cm 1:3,5. I am looking to learn more about this camera, especially how to describe the conversion that was done. Pictures taken with this camera/lens precede this picture in my stream. There appears to be a bit of mold/fungus that causes some light blooming -- see the chrome on the cadillac or the flare in the other photos. More pictures coming.

Converting to Vegan (Country Girl's Guide)
In the last five years I have heard from dozens of parents recounting the moment their child expressed a desire to become a Vegan. Children of all ages - from kindergarten to high school - and for varying reasons, are eager to explore this new way of life but who aren't equipped to make the change without some guidance.

This quick guide is neither about, nor for, young Vegans, but it will help caring parents to support, educate, and feed their "I want to be a Vegan" child. With sections addressing the nutritional needs of all humans, tips on changing favorite recipes to Vegan-friendly variety, and how to shop for packaged food and cooking supplies, the intended goal is to hand you a primer that will ease the transition - perhaps for the entire family.

I personally have bounced in and out of the vegetarian lifestyle (for years at a time) and am now on a path to a truer Veganism. During the years of being a practicing vegetarian I'd never felt better in my skin and about my impact on the earth. It wasn't until one friend turned completely Vegan (and I had a chance to witness her transformation months later) that I gave this lifestyle choice a close second look. Done right, your skin will clear, you will have more energy, and you will shed unwanted pounds. All that, plus you honor your compassion toward animals and reduce your carbon footprint. To pen a phrase: "A win-win situation."

In this book I'll be covering the basics on cooking Vegan, giving you an overview of typical ingredients used, the list of hidden ingredients in packaged food to avoid, and advice on stocking up your kitchen cupboards so that you never go hungry or are tempted to eat something you'll feel sick about after. We will look at some basic cooking techniques, some nutritionally complete Vegan meals, and where to go for more specialized health information should you already have developed diabetes, high cholesterol, or other ailments. I strongly suggest that you also discuss your dietary decisions with your medical practitioner or a nutritionist who is fully aware of your current state of health.
