Legislative Changes

Please read my attached informal minutes of the September 2017 meeting.  I have described both the legislation that passed and the legislation that either failed or was withdrawn by the authors.  Of course, all coaches should read the formal minutes on the CHSSA website once they are posted.  The biggest developments are that coaches now have the option (at the discretion of their league presidents and Area Chairs) to submit scripts electronically for approval, both prior to state qualifiers and to the state tournament.  Each league will handle this option differently, so please ask your league president for their script collection method preference.

Other developments are that now we will have the option of paying our state entry fees online, computers and tablets will be allowed in Congress, there is a new CHSSA "Student of the Year" $1,000 scholarship to reward students who are also leaders in their communities (applications will be made available in March), a Chuck Ballingall Memorial Fund is being established to financially assist policy debate programs who have $$ need, and props are now formally banned in Spontaneous Events.
