baby stuff for boys - The Shape
The Shape of Me and Other Stuff (Bright & Early Books(R))
The Shape of Me and Other Stuff (Bright & Early Books(R))
Illus. in full color.

Subtitled "Dr. Seuss's Surprising Word Book," The Shape of Me and Other Stuff certainly lives up to its billing. In this delightful book, first published in 1973, kids are encouraged to ponder shapes they may never have considered before: "Just think about the shape of beans and flowers and mice and big machines!" Dr. Seuss's illustrations are in silhouette (for the purpose of accenting the outlines of figures), but are nonetheless up to par with his usual wacky, amusing style. Soaring well beyond the mundane arena of circles, triangles, and squares, here we are challenged to consider "the shape of camels … the shape of bees and the wonderful shapes of back door keys!" Kids will love the silly rhymes and funny pictures, and parents will appreciate this original take on the largely untapped world of shapes. (Baby to preschool)

my baby stuff + gifts so far!
Baby stuff! YES, already. My favorite goodies (so far) arrived today... blanket, bib, and burping cloth (there's a better pic following this one, of those). Ok so first of all, some of the books I've been slowly amassing over the years, knowing that there are things I'd want to one day share with my kids. I couldn't show all the books here obviously, so I just grabbed a small sample. That's actually a Japanese "Where's Waldo" but we do also have all the English original ones as well (dh and I both loved waldo growing up). I also got a large set of Beatrix Potter stories, and recently got some of my old kids books back from my niece who no longer needs them. :) The pacifiers are a lavender blue color (gender neutral) and we got them at the grocery story. The bottom middle items are a my melody kids spoon and chopstick set I've had for a long long time. I also have a Pochacco fork and spoon set incase I have a boy, and lots of kid size bento boxes of all kinds. (not shown) And the ?? (Tokyo) shirt is from Lucky Brand (also bought it years ago), also gender neutral. The rest are gifts. Two japanese onsies from Dani (girly), and goodies from my oldest sister Kim: two gender neutral fleece blankies and my first bottle! My mother and father have already claimed the right to get us a crib when the time comes. :D

It's starting to look like a baby's room! While heroic J is working a 36 hour shift at the cardiac care unit, my mom came by to help assemble the crib. We also dropped by a yard sale with lots of baby stuff. Our neighborhood is brimming with young families, so the yard sales are tremendous for baby gear.
