Oh, Baby, the Places You'll Go!: A book to be read in Utero
Artfully extracted and adapted almost entirely from Ted Geisel's work, this is a must for all expectant parents - and introduction to the wonderful world of Dr. Suess for their adorable baby-to-be. Exciting new discoveries are being made all the time about how much learning takes place while a baby is still in its mother's womb, and Oh, Baby, the Places You'll Go! makes the perfect welcome! It's never too early to start them on a rich and healthy regimen of good ol' Dr. Seuss.

A charming gift for expectant parents, Oh Baby, the Places You'll Go is designed to be an in utero introduction to the wonderful world of Dr. Seuss. Adapted from his works, and touching on them all from Horton to Who-ville, author Tish Rabe has maintained Seuss's style perfectly. Your baby is the unnamed star of the book, and reading directly to your tummy becomes easy with lines like "the words I am saying you hear in your heart, and know that I wish you the very best start." Filled with the good doctor's whimsical illustrations, you'll find all your favorite characters, with a short rhyme that mentions each one--and just enough direct quotations to get those infants stimulated when you read Seuss's whole books to them at a later date. --Jill Lightner

Baby Bird Found
Baby Bird Found
We have a screened porch off of our deck and we have had contractors working on it all week fixing a leak in the roof. Because of this, we have not been able to keep tabs on the dedicated mama bird and her nest. Last night, after coming home from dinner, we took Finn in the backyard for a good run around. He hasn't been out there all week because our contractors are not the most professional and they have been leaving roofing nails and other doggie damaging debris on the ground. While standing on the deck I see a little craning neck coming out of the grass. A baby bird had fallen from the nest and mama bird was no where in sight. His little neck was craning upward. His bright orange mouth gaping. It was one of the most heartbreaking things I had ever seen. I gathered Finn and took him inside while Ryan searched for worms. We looked online and found a lot of conflicting advice. Finally we tried taking down the nest, putting the baby bird back in it and waiting to see if the mama bird would come back. She did not. We made some calls and we found a lady who rehabilitates birds. She told Ryan to bring the bird in and warm it in his hands. Then we were to put the bird down on a bed of toilet paper and put him in a small plastic container. Next, after a quick trip to CVS, we put the bird on top of a warming pad set to low. The woman told Ryan to cover the dish with a towel and put him in a dark place. Continued in next picture....

I wanted to add this sweater I made to my "portfolio" on ravelry, but I don't have permission from this baby's parents to post her picture online. So to protect everyone's privacy, I just turned their baby into a cat. Viola! Problem solved. It kind of creeps me out how well this actually worked.
