The organization assists the Arbuckle Karst Conservancy & Research Institute for scientific studies and is the official "Steep Terrain and Cave Rescue" organization of the Arbuckle Mountains region. The AMG was established in 1958 and has made huge contributions to the study of caves and karst of the Arbuckle Mountains region.
