nightshift- a provisory resumee
nightshift- a provisory resumee
when i was younger, in my teen years, i have read quite a few bad books also. so please treat me respectfully. my attitude to be "not grown up", or even "childish" is like make-up i wear. even if it is difficult to wear it off in an instance. S. King is a horror author from the U.S., with whom i broke up at some point. but i remember his works. so now i find myself doing work in the night! one of his short stories had the title "nightshift", and it is about, ehm, rats. i admit that i have a sympathy for these critters, and have even feed them (in the nature) a few times. but the smell their dwellings give off is special. it is not unpleasant, but more even unstandable lethal and deadly, nothing made for humans. be sure on that piece of information. but i do not think about rats, when i do my current exercises. i learn japanese manga and cartoon styles. for instance, from the works of takenoko, who has also gained some reputation in the "hentai" sector. i only reproduce his "general audience" works- which are very pleasant, by the way. by doing this, i can learn about contures, japanese sense of beauty, and body proportions. but i must be careful not to jump too much on the "body expression" rail. it is not so much a danger, because i do not like it. "hentai" means to express explicit sexual activity by drawn art. my subject is face expression especially. but i do not learn from teachers, or instruction books. i take real photographies, or recently, the outline of existing, previous work of other artistes. so to say, i am copying them off a little. but it is also a great helping if i am drawing own works independently. it is like to learn how to drive. what i do not like is if people treat me like a primary school kid from a banana country. also sometimes they just ask me to shut up, be quiet, and not to participate. well i do not think that is democratic (several online BBS, forums). also i do not exclude people, only because they are from 3rd world banana countries, if they like NESQUICK instant drinks (for milk), or if they are into explicit stuff (what i do not do myself). i just ask for "no damage" cooperation- not to produce unwanted emotion, not to break the free will of a person. people could live together so much better, even if the lifestyle of some of us is not really desireable. i am not one with totalitarian views, even if i have something against certain artowork styles (classical), or music styles (bad language). i just ask for, that they accept, that their brew is not the only thinkable way of seeing the world, of expressing possible emotion. i believe that is not to difficult to follow. one of my professions is that of an artist. but i am not specialized on it. sure SEGA has catalyzed my love for drawn characters at some point of time. without them, i would not be where i am today. even if sadly, in the year 2001, it came to an end (at least their console business).
Pentool Masking Video (Fast)
Pentool Masking Video (Fast)
This video is fast.. It shows the speed of using the pen tool in photoshop to mask out things. Also shows my tricks for replacing hair as well as reflections. This isn't so much a tutorial (that's coming) as a fast example of the power of the pen tool to mask out objects. This whole image was completed in <10 mins with no prep time what so ever. This is my kung-fu and just how I roll. (To use the pentool this way, set it to draw paths not as a shape tool, then just follow the conture of the object until you close the path then right click in the center, and click Make Selection. Check Anti-Alias and feather all the way to zero).
