Last night I had this gigantic list of things I needed to do, but when I got home and smelled the acrid, horribly nose-burning smell that was our fridge everything got put on hold. I worried it was freon leaking, but whatever it was was NOT FOOD and was clearly going to poison us. Our Super quickly gave us keys to an empty apartment, so we can use the fridge there (though it's a floor above us) and sent someone to investigate, and I realized that spending any length of time in the kitchen was just not going to happen. So I played the new Super Mario Galaxy 2, which came out yesterday, for a bit, didn't do anything else on my list, and went to bed. update from this morning: mechanics came and checked out the fridge, and determined that the fan had burned itself out--and was apparently a nasty charred mess. fan has been replaced and we're not getting a shiny new fridge, sadly.

Upon moving the fridge away from the wall for purposes of painting, it was discovered that it was leaking freon and had 2 inches of water in the bottom. Looks like we're getting a new fridge! And while we're at it, let's get a new stove as well.
