If you are receiving spam by email, iMessage or SMS text message, or receive an email that appears to be a phishing attempt, this article will go over what actions you can take.

Below is a table of Apple email addresses designated for reporting a spam/scam message and what they should be used for.

Email or Number When to Use This Address What to Do
reportphishing@apple.com If you receive a phishing attempt (someone claiming to be Apple) Just forward the email, including the header
abuse@icloud.com If you receive some other suspicious email in your iCloud mail account Just forward the email, including the header
imessage.spam@icloud.com If you receive a spam message via iMessage See this article

In iOS 7 and later, you can add numbers or Apple IDs to a block list. You will not receive FaceTime calls, phone calls, iMessages or SMS messages from the numbers or Apple IDs that you add. NOTE: You will not be able to see calls/messages from contacts that are blocked. If you later unblock them, you cannot recover calls/messages from a time that they were blocked.

To add an address to the block list, open Messages, select the conversation, then press the "Contact" button on the right (this can also be done by pressing ">" next to the address in the "Recents" tab in the FaceTime or Phone app).

Next, tap on the lower case "i."

At the very bottom, there will be a link that says "Block this Caller."

You can view the list of blocked numbers under the "Blocked" section of the Phone, FaceTime, or Messages section of the Settings app. You can also add to the block list from the Settings menu, but note that the person must be in your contact list in order to block them.

If your device is running iOS 6 or earlier, there is no block list feature. For emails, check with your mail provider on how to create a filter. You can then specify a sender and select what you want to do with emails from that sender, i.e. send them to the trash. For SMS or phone calls, consult your carrier to see what blocking services they offer. For iMessages, it is best to just report them using the email address provided earlier.
