If you cannot find the YouTube app on your Apple TV, this article can offer an explanation, and go over some resolutions to get it to appear on the home screen again, if possible. If you have an Apple TV (1st or 2nd generation) As of April 2015, there is no longer a YouTube app on your Apple TV. This is due to Google dropping support for older devices. You will no longer be able to watch YouTube if you have a 1st or 2nd generation Apple TV, as there are no alternative YouTube players available. You can see this support article from Google for more information on the discontinuation of YouTube for older devices: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6098135?hl=en. If you have an Apple TV (3rd generation) YouTube should still be on your Apple TV. If you don't see it on the home screen, first check that your Apple TV software is up to date. Go to Settings > General > Software Update, and run any updates, if available. If your software is up to date and you still do not see the YouTube app, try going to Settings > Main Menu > YouTube, and make sure it says "Show" next to it. If YouTube is set to show but is not on your home screen, make sure it did not get restricted. On your Apple TV, go to Settings > General > Restrictions, and make sure YouTube did not get set to "Hide." If it was not restricted, try going to Settings > General > Restart, and see if that brings it back. If not, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This should also reset the home screen layout. However, as it will also reset other settings, you will need to sign back in to iCloud, the iTunes Store, etc. which is why this method should be used last, if nothing else works. If you have an Apple TV (4th generation) YouTube is not a built-in app on Apple TV models that run on tvOS (which would be the Apple TV 4th generation). You can download it from the App Store on the TV. If you have already installed it, but it is not appearing, try the last suggestion from the section above. It may have also been placed in a folder along with other apps, so you may wish to check in those first. Article ID: AT4844 Overall User Rating: [NO RATINGS] |
