At Apple's annual Worldwide Developers' Conference (WWDC) today, Apple unveiled the latest versions of the iOS and OS X operating systems. There were several features introduced that just blow previous releases out of the water, including several features for families, and for users of multiple devices. To start, let's take a trip through OS X Yosemite.
OS X Yosemite brings a new UI to the Mac, similar to that of iOS 7 announced last year (and now iOS 8). The icons have been simplified, there is translucency at the top of windows, and in interfaces that have a sidebar (or are a sidebar, like Notification Center).
Let's walk through some of the over 200 new features. Notification Center has a "Today" view, just like the one introduced for iOS last year. Not only that, but it's easily customizable. You'll find an Edit button at the bottom of the Notification Center panel, which will let you add widgets to Notification Center, such as Calculator. Third party apps from the Mac App Store that support widgets can be added to Notification Center as well. Safari also has some excellent improvements.
