Appalachian Human Power is a senior design group at Ohio University.  This project is intended to address the need for sustainable power in the Appalachian area, specifically dealing with mechanically powering the appliances of the client, Constantine Faller, at the Athens Farmers’ Market. This will be done by utilizing a “Table-top Takeoff Unit” that will allow a flexible power input and be easily adaptable to a variety of machines. The unit will primarily be powered by bicycle, and incorporate an adjustable gear ratio to a spinning shaft output. The unit will be cheaply yet sturdily constructed, and be easily serviceable by the client.

Our progress on the project can be viewed on our Dashboard.
