Ellesmere Island AVHRR The following fracture which created a line practically from Ellesmere past the North Pole seems to also be related to a storm which passed over the North Pole. The following series shows the before and after imagery with the storm captured in this process. The progression is from earlier to later imagery. February 14, 2013 1948, fracturing change underway The following fracture event was over 525 miles in length, and may have happened in about 8 minutes. It seems associated with a SLP that moved over the Pole on Feb 9-12, 2013. February 17, 2013 1912 - the full fracture described form Feb 12-14 is visible along with a new long fracture across the Chukchi and Beaufort. |
